The route, mostly surrounded by thick pine forests, deodars, oaks and rhododendrons is a picturesque one that will prove rewarding at every turn. The lake is renowned for a Ganesh temple that is located at its one end, it is known to have been the birthplace of Lord Ganesh. At the lake, you'll also get the chance to behold rare Himalayan trouts called dodi after which the lake has been named.

This trek takes you to the most stunning glacial lake within Uttarakhand – Kedartal. Situated about 20km from Gangotri, at a height of 14,000ft., the trail will offer you a variety of sights. From mountains covered in flowers, snow-clad peaks and an unreal-looking emerald green lake, the trek is ideal to witness Uttarakhand's beauty in all its glory. Once at the lake, you'll be at the base of might peaks like Mt Thalaysagar, Mt Bhrigupanth, Manda Parvat, Mt Jogin and Mt Gangotri. This is a very interesting trek route as it begins in the tiny village of Dhaula in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand and ends in Sangla Valley, Himachal Pradesh. It goes without saying that it's the perfect trek if you want to experience the magnificence of both the states. The trail is surrounded with thick forests, meadows, streams, waterfalls and ultimately awards you with a spectacular view of Kinner Kailash Range in Himachal.
