Train travel has its own level of romance. And if this travel is on hill routes, then even the most stoic person turns into a die-hard romantic. Most of us have experienced or atleast heard of the amazing experiences on the Darjeeling Hill Railway and the Kalka Shimla route. Now, a trip to the North East will couple this amazing experience along with the spectacular vistas that the region offers.
As per news reports, Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh’s most popular destination, will soon have a toy train. Imagine chugging around the spectacular Himalayan town in a train, with snow capped peaks and verdant valleys surrounding you and the chill winter breeze blowing your hair.
The government has approved this toy train project that is being built primarily as a tourist attraction. The train will have three bogies, each with a seating capacity of 12 passengers. The route being proposed is around Tawang town with other touristy attractions - food stalls, local bazaars, parks being set up around the tracks.
Travellers come to Tawang drawn primarily by the Tawang monastery. Built in the 17th century, this monastery is the largest Buddhist monastery in India. Tawang also has a very special significance as it is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. With a temperate climate, and just perfect weather for travelling, Tawang has gained popularity as one of the most visited places in the North East.
So the next time you visit Tawang, other than the stunning views and spiritual peace that the destination offers, you could also have your “Kasto Mazaa” or “Mere Sapno Ki Rani” moment. Romantic, ain’t it?
