Wohh hey hi, I'm glad you are here.
How you doing?
Yes you,
That’s lame. Maybe I should give you a name. How about “Friend”? Too common? Bro? Too cliche? umm...Buddy? sounds cool? (I just finished Ozark, so Buddy came up quickly :-p)
If you don’t like Buddy, suggest something else, We are going to stay connected, so it's important we get comfortable with each other.
Wait. Did I introduce myself?
So clumsy of me.
Hi, I’m Sameer (Hawa ka jhonka ? naam toh suna hi hoga ;-) ) To my friends, I’m Sameera, RaRa, Sam, Sammy and Samurai.
Btw I'm a software developer by profession, and trekker by passion (cool wordplay right?). So passionate that I go trekking every weekend. I have done around 30 treks in the span of 9 months. You must be wondering how you manage that or don't you get tired and how you are surviving this lockdown. Well, if you love something you’ll always have time for it, and you'll never get bored of it and about the last question, I'm breathing in a hope that this will end soon and I'll be back in the mountains.
Enough of me for now, you’ll get to know me more over the time.
Coming back to you..
I’ll be honest, the only reason I’m writing this blog is because of you, Buddy; all the appreciation, support you have given me over the time made me believe in myself. And I'll always be grateful for that. Thank you. I mean it.
So the introduction, thank you part is over. Let me get back to the reason why we’re here.
I'm going to share with you how I end up falling in love with nature.
The Sameer before this love affair, was mostly fascinated by the movies(watching literally every movie in the theatre), food(if someone wants to give me a treat, Joey's is the place) and Artificial intelligence (I'm still very much curious about AI. I'm going to recommend you one movie. "her", It's a masterpiece. Do watch it and let me know how you like it).
It’s easy to get wrapped up in our little worlds, because of the comfort we get inside the safety of four walls. Even I was kind of trapped in my comfort zone, unaware of the world of beauty out there, Until me and my friends decided to go out for the Pandavkada waterfall.
It was monsoon in 2018, It was raining, and was a perfect day for an outing. Obviously it was not my first encounter with nature, but this time this little outing hit me differently. I witnessed nature’s beauty, its strength, its peace all in that day.
Have you ever had a day when every minute of that day is memorable and fits into your memory for the lifetime. You are so happy about the moments you lived, you tell the stories to your friends, families, post your experience on social media and keep scrolling through pictures again and again.
And similarly even I did. This was the piece I wrote back in 2018 about my little adventure to Pandavkada waterfall.
“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in”. ~John Muir
As I started going out for more treks, I kept finding more colours of nature and kept getting closer to the mountains. I was out of a world of chaos, I was in what you call heaven where sky has more shades than any artist could imagine; where vibrancy of the trees and flowers overwhelms our eyes; where the mightiness of the mountains inspire us to touch the sky; where instead of horn you wake up to soothing melody; where it showers kisses in the form of rain and snowflakes; where word "beautiful" has more than one definitions; where I feel most alive.
I found another home!!
Now imagine lying on the soft green grass
Watching the cinematic clouds drift across the wide sky
Hearing the soothing sound of the river passing nearby
Feeling the wind in your hair that ping you by saying hello
Looking at the mighty mountains rising high into the vast sky, safely guarding you from all the sides
Getting awestruck by the enchanting views, captivating colourful flowers and trees
Inhaling an earthy air
Getting amazed by the tremendous waterfall, the thunderous sound it make
Wandering through the untouched trails with the birds singing in the backdrop
Enjoying the company of nature's beautiful creation
Witnessing the heavenly beautiful sunrise & sunset, or the pretty rainbow after the rain
Sleeping under the dark sky with the countless stars, or if you are lucky spotting the mesmerising Milkyway
And most importantly being the "bindass" version of yourself with no one to judge
Now tell me, How can one not fall in love with nature?
