SEASON: All year round

Day 1 

Arrive at Dehradun and drive to Sankhri (230 kms, 8 hours, alt 5000 ft). 

Accommodation: Hotel. 

Day 2 

After early breakfast, short drive to Netwar (20 kms, 40 minutes). Trek to Kalap begins (11 kms, 5-7 hours). Reach Kalap (8,000 ft) by late afternoon/evening. 

Accommodation: Stay overnight in the village with families in traditional Garhwali wooden homes. 

Day 3 

Day trek after breakfast to the pastoral settlement of Karba (3.5 kms, 2 hours, 8,500 ft). Take a walk to see view of snow-capped mountains and terraced fields which are used to cultivate potato, wheat and millets. There is also a small temple at Karba. 

Accommodation: Stay at traditional wooden home or camp overnight in tents at Karba Top against the backdrop of Kedarkantha Peak. (no extra cost)

Day 4

After breakfast, return to Kalap. Interpretation of projects by Kalap Trust. (Optional short trek to visit meditation cave above village, 2 kms, 1 hour). In the evening, a traditional Garhwali cultural performance is arranged at the village community centre.

Accommodation: Stay overnight in the village with families in traditional Garhwali wooden homes. 

Day 5

After breakfast, climb down to Netwar (11kms, 4 hours). Transfer to Dehradun.
