Khajuraho where you understand the true meaning of sensuality. It is a small city located in Madhya Pradesh. Khajuraho is surrounded by the beautiful sculptures locked embraces making love. For a moment you can almost feel the passion in the air.

The man and women in the various stages of lovemaking and the erotic sculpture fill the walls of the temples. Though there is more to the Khajuraho than just erotic sculptures only one-tenth of the carving is filled with erotic art.

The temple tells the glorious history of the Chandela dynasty built-in 10th- 12th C.E. The temples of Khajuraho were hidden dense forest were rediscovered in the 19th C.E

In the medieval period there were 85 temples but today only 22 exist. Today, this group of monuments was listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Western Group of temples are the largest, the Eastern, the Southern Group a few Jain monuments stand there since the Chandela period.

How to reach Khajuraho?

Khajuraho is well connected to the rest of India by road and air. There is a railway station in Khajurao which is connected by major cities.

1- Khajuraho through Air
Khajuraho Airport is the nearest airport that connects the site of Khajuraho to the rest of India, primarily cities like New Delhi, Bhopal, etc. Regular connecting flights from domestic carriers like Air India, Indigo, etc. serve the airport of Khajuraho.

2- Khajuraho through Road
Regular bus services ply to and fro Khajuraho. Buses, in a range from affordable to slightly expensive rates, are available from places like Bhopal, Indore, New Delhi. You can also take a shared taxi or cab for the same route.

3- Khajuraho through train
Khajuraho has a railway station which is connected by major cities

Top things to do Khajuraho

1- Light and sound show
It's the best evening activity where you get an opportunity to understand the history, facts, and myths of Khajuraho temples. It is organized in Khajuraho Western Group of Temples. It is available in two shows the first show in English and second show in Hindi.
The timings are-
October to February -18:30 to 19:25 for English 19:40 to 20:35 for Hindi
March to September-19:30 to 20:25 for English 20:40 to 21:35 for Hindi

2- Western Group of temples
At the Western Group, you will see some of the most sensational temples such as Lakshman temple, Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Devi Mandap e.t.c

3- Eastern Group of temples
A kilometer towards the east from the western group of Temples is the Khajur Sagar and the old village of Khajuraho. The temples in the Western group are Brahma temple, Javari temple, and Vaman temple.
After visiting the temple you can interact with local people and half km away there is a 4km track where you can go for a trek as well.

4- Jain Group of temples
The main Jain temples include the Parshvanath Temple around 954 AD, the Ghantai Temple around 960 AD, and the Adinath Temple around 1027 AD.

5- Panna National Park
Panna National Park is located in Panna, Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for Tiger reserve. It has an area of 542 km. It is a very dense forest and has a population of 45 tigers. It is near to Khajuraho distance of 44 km approx. 1hr 20 min journey through a Gypsy.
