There is a saying that Once you fell in love with mountains, they will keep you calling back. And hence once again I ended up spending my vacation amid lush green and amazing Nilgiris. The color green can be seen in so many different shades that even a female will fall short of labeling it.

It was a family trip of me , my wife and kid. So no backpacking... hahaha... flights and hotels were booked. We kept 3 days for Ooty , 1 day at Masinagudi and 2 days in Coonoor.

Day 1 - Landed in Coimbatore. We booked Meadows Residency in Ooty, so they had sent the cab for pick up. It took us about 3 hrs to reach Ooty. What a pleasant weather it was... 15 degrees and drizzling. Checked in at about 4 pm and straight way went out to have hot cuppa of tea :) . Heavenly feeling !! We decided to explore little bit on foot. In that lovely weather, didn't realize that we went all the way to Ooty Lake. Then as we had reached , took a boat ride too. Lake is Ok kind.. water is not that clean. Since it is a tourist and commercial place, trash can be spotted easily floating around. This attraction can be missed if you have seen lakes in your life.

Later had dinner at A2Bs - Adyar Anand Bhavan. Pretty good restaurant and everything on menu.

Day 2 - Hired a cab. Visited Doddabetta peak, tea estate and botanical garden.

Doddabetta peak is a good spot to see the whole place. Highest south Indian peak. Can see borders of karnatka and kerala , city of ooty and coonoor. Provided the weather is clear :)

Tea estate was nice experience to see how tea is made from the leaves. Can buy tea, spices, chocolates and different varieties of oils from there.

Botanical garden is worth visiting. Huge and clean. History about it readily available on google.

Day 3- Booked a cab for Avalanche lake. This lake is inside the reserved area of forest. Hence only forest vehicle are allowed. Took us about 2.5 hrs to reach the forest department office. Booked seats there. The bus journey towards the lake was just wonderful. There is a waterfall and a temple on the way. The driver stopped at places to let us take pictures. Its no plastic zone. And such peaceful. Although we didn't spot any animals except monkeys but its dense forest all around. The Avalance lake is just mesmerizing. Damn clear water. Vast lake. Water , green surroundings, blue skies and trees just made it look like a heaven. P.S I haven't seen heaven yet :P

Must visit !

Day 4 - Headed to Masinagudi. Had booked Bear Mountain resort. Its really far in the jungle and that's what we wanted. Beautiful resort. Delicious food. Volleyball, Badminton etc available. We were the only one on that day. Took cottage room.Amazing view of mountains from there. Oh yes, the deer stay inside the resort only. They came from the forest and stay there. Harmless animals.

Very good hospitality.

In the evening, went for Mudumalai forest safari. Good experience but yet again did not spot any ferocious wild animal. Saw elephants, bison, jungle eagles. The ride and excitement to see some animal in their habitat was fun !

Day 5- In the morning post heavy breakfast , headed towards coonoor. The drive was like winter time in delhi. Nearly zero visibility due mist and hairpin curves and rain. Total 36 hairpin curves. Checked into Tea Nest resort. Superb place. Tea gardens all around. And mountains and valleys.

Very right place to go for morning walk. Slope and uphill climb. In the evening went to see coonoor city. Gave a miss to Dolphin's nose, lambs rock other attractions.

Day 6- Stayed in the resort itself. Enjoyed our time there.
