Taki is one of the most popular sensation for a relaxing weekend in this pandemic situation. While most of the places in West Bengal is demanding Covid19 vaccination certificate, Taki is not demanding anything but your presence. This place is nearly Covid-free as it is a small village in West Bengal Hasnabad district.
How to reach:
You can visit this place by train or by car, both options are available. From Sealdah, train is available up to Taki railway station which is about two and a half hours. Get a morning train, land at Taki at about 7.30 AM in the morning and the view is majestic. Toto will be available at the station. Rent one toto for a whole day and he will show you all the spots in Taki. It will cost almost 500-600 per toto per day.
When to visit:
Any season is good for visiting Taki. But what I prefer is to visit in winter and the rainy season. Winter gives you the cold relaxing weather while you enjoy your stay at Taki, and the rainy season gives you the romantic vibes and chilling winds that will make you fly to the moon. So, both the seasons are preferred.
Where to stay:
You can get plenty of options for staying there. From regular guest house to five star hotels, accommodations will have a vast range of options. You can stay at Taki guest house, which has beautiful view right in front of the river. Rooms cost 500(non AC) to 800(AC). Other hotels are available like Sonar Bangla hotel and others. You will get hotels in all price ranges.
Things to do at Taki:
Visit Golpata forest aka mini Sundarban of Taki. This is the part of Sundarban mangrove forest. Amazing view and photoshoot place.
Boating in Ichamati river both in Winter and rainy season is majestic. You will feel serenity while floating in the boat in mid river. During rainy season, water becomes full and in Winter, water goes back to its normal situation. Boating in both season is pleasurable. In this pandemic situation, you have to rent a whole boat for yourself or your group. No other person is allowed to you boat. One boat for 35-40 minutes of riding costs 800-900 INR. They will show you the Bangladesh border and the Mohana, mating of river and the sea.
There is a Bengali movie named Bisarjan, which was shot in Taki. That place you can also visit.
This is a old Jamidar bari, where the family only visits during the Durga puja. The place where Durga Puja takes place is worth visiting.
Taki eco park is a small park where you also can stay. They have accommodation system there. Park entry fee is 15 Rs per person. Calm water bounded place with aquariums and birds. Visiting this place won't take much time.
These are the main visiting places. Spend rest of the day relaxing beside the river with a bit of happiness in your eyes and a cup of tea in your hand.
