Udumalpet Tourism and Travel Guide

Udumalpet is a small town in Tamil Nadu that is wrapped by mountains on three sides and carpeted by lush coconut trees farms, ensuring that it has good weather throughout the year. Though there is not a lot to do here, most tourists come to see the waterfalls in the Thirumoorthy Hills. The waterfalls can be reached by a half hour trek from the Thirumoorthy Temple, which is situated on scenic hills. Like the other ridges of the Anamalai range, this place too is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The rural ambience around Udumalpet is valorised by the numerous irrigation canals and the river Amravati which intersects the villages every now and then. Due to its close proximity to Munnar, Palani Hills and Kodaikanal, Udumalpet is often visited as a day trip. A drive on the Udumalpet-Munnar road can give you a great view of the Western Ghats. Try the Kick Grass or Annavasal restaurants for a tasty meal after your hike. There are no good hotels around here, so plan in a way that you don't have to spend the night. After you get out, head to the forests of Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, which are located nearby.
