There are many underrated beach destinations in Visakhapatnam which are equally beautiful to all the popular beaches. Among them, Appikonda beach is also one of the beautiful beaches in South India, especially in Vizag. The specialty of this beach is its scenic view and its water.
After visiting to the NTPC Pump beach, we seven cousins have decided to visit this particular beach because it was around 11 km from NTPC beach. Unlike NTPC beach, there are a few routes to this beach. One can reach the Appikonda beach from Steel city, Kurmanapalem in Visakhapatnam. One should cross all the beautiful greenery sectors of Steel Plant residential complex to reach this beach.
The main aspect of this beach is the Mountain nearby the water. The natural scenic view of Ocean and Mountain is too beautiful and inexplicable. There is a temple situated on the Mountain named Appikonda. Hence the beach which is nearer to this mountain, named after the hill. There is another beach in Visakhapatnam which is situated near Dolphin Nose Hill, which is also a famous beach in Vizag. Well, there are a lot of beaches in Visakhapatnam to explore.
But, the water in Appikonda beach destination is quite different. The temperature levels of the water are very low where as the weather near the beach is quite high. It would be like a person can literally walk on the sea shore in a hot sunny day because the feet would be drenched with cool ocean water. The beach breeze was another highlight of the place. Though the weather is hot, the water and the breeze balance it to neutral because of the cool water and cold breeze.
This place is also quite famous for the movie shootings. People often visit this, but the flow is very limited. Unlike other beaches, the crowd, which visit this beach is low because hardly people explore the deepest oceans in the nooks and corners of a place right. Because of its location and poor transportation facilities, the number of people who visit this beach is quite limited. But, if you explore this beach, you will fall in love with the beach. Because, its spacious, huge, scenic, beautiful and safe too.
The waves are medium and the currents are fine and not so dangerous. Swimming would be fun at this beach because of the smooth sand and high slope. The sand is smooth and neat. The maintenance of the beach is good because of its limited visits by the people. There are few villages attached to the mountain and the beach. One can find many fishermen staying nearby the beach in huts.
There are a few temples near the beach and mostly people organize events near the sea shore. So, though the visitors flow is less, the residents of the village make you feel safer because of their existence all the time at the beach. Unlike NTPC Pump beach, we can see life scenario near Appikonda Beach. This is just underrated because of its location and facilities.
Altogether, this place would be a best place to hang out with friends and family picnics. One can also visit this beach alone for some peaceful time. The water is just fabulous because of its cleanliness and the temperature. One can feel cold when waves touch your feet. It's a totally natural experience with its scenic view of Mountain and beach. People who love Mountains and beaches together must make a visit to this place in Vizag.
This place is quite a good one for the photo shoots. The sand, the breeze, the water, the grassland nearby, the far away hill, the villagers, the temples nearby, the foamy waves are just beauty and love.
