Day 1

Not feeling sleepy. May be for the excitement of going my 1st long bike trip with my 7 childhood friends. It’s 3am and 9°c outside, showing it in my phone. Too much foggy and darkness outside from my room window. Street lights are not visible enough from a short distance due to this winter weather. No more sleep. I have to start preparing my self as 5am is our proposed time to start the journey.

5:30 in the morning we have started our journey in front of my school at Kalyani with my five school friends and three bikes (Pulsar 160 ns, Pulsar 180 and R15). Today’s target is to reach and stay Raiganj by evening. We will follow NH34 route in Google map. Oh My God, what is this !! It’s a long traffic jam in NH34 from Simurali. Local villagers are telling that is jam is persist almost 4 hours. What to do now! We have to reach Krishnanagar by 7am else how we can reach Raiganj by everything and our plan is not to ride at night for safety purpose? Suddenly one village man tell us that there is a parallel way exist to Ranaghat to bypass NH34. Yes, we have found the road in Google map but how we can reach the alternate way as no road is showing between our current location to that alternate way. There is a very narrow path exist in between the two road. We cannot west our time in this NH34 jam. So we choose to explore the alternate route. It takes almost 15min through a large farmland with almost zero visibility for intense fog to reach the alternate path. Thank good at list now we can see the existence of alternate rode in Google map with respect to our current location. At last we reached Krishnanagar at 8am, almost one hour we are in delay due to this unavoidable circumstances. Time to take our breakfast.

Next target is Berhampore. Now road is pretty good with two lane in NH34. We have crossed Berhampore approx 11:30am. Though we are feeling little bit hungry, we decide to cross our next target Farakka Barrage to avoid the huge jam and make up our delays.

Packing done. Ready to start.

Though we are feeling little bit hungry, we decide to cross our next target Farakka Barrage to avoid the huge jam and make up our delays. Within 2-3 km from Berhampore, the huge traffic Jam started. Left lane is just not functional with stagnant loaded Track as well as half of the right lane. Half of the right lane is just functional for both up and down vehicles. Atlast we have found the reason for this traffic, half of the Farakka Barrage is under maintenance. It was 2pm when we have crossed Farakka and pause the ride for Lunch. As we are feeling very hungry, we just do our lunch in a road side Jhups instead of wasting time to find a good Dhaba or Restaurant. At the time of lunch, one of my friend book two rooms in “Raigunj Tourist Lodge” under West Bengal Tourism using phone internet for today’s night stay. After completing our lunch we resume our journey at 3pm. It’s pretty late due to all the traffic jam we have gone through. We have to make up this delay as soon as possible, else we have to drive a little bit at night.

Almost 4:30pm we cross Malda. We realise that we have to drive at night as we have no choice atlist for today. I have vision issue while driving at night. So my friend help me at this time.

Atlast we have reached “Raigunj Tourist Lodge”, our DAY-1 destination at 7:30pm. Almost 355km we have covered today. Location, Accommodation, food quality all are just Owo with a very reasonable price. In one word the Lodge is just awesome and luckily we got this booking via online just before 4 hours. We have are very happy and enjoy the food and room service.

We all go to sleep at 11pm. Our next day plan is to start our journey at 6am. So for now Good night.
