Day 1

Cave Man Time – Vizag’s Little Wonder – Borra Caves .

I Don’t Believe in Rebirth or Past Life , But had I had one such – I know certainly that I would have been a Hill Man !!!!

My Love For Hills is Exponential ❤️

If You Happen to Visit the City of Destiny – Visakhapatnam or Vizag , Make sure u spare yourself another extra day … Wondering Why ? If that’s Really Needed? Well You can Decide for Yourself – Maybe This Thread would convince you enough ????

80 odd Kms from Vizag Airport , via the NAD Signal , passing the Simachalam junction and then once u reach the base Anantagiri Range of Hills , you would realise the complete transition of noise and honks turning to breezy chill and Silent valleys . About 90 min it’s gonna be all about the usual hill drives – Curves , View Points , Temples , Small Roads , Difficult Overtakings , Natutal Honey , Jackfruit and Vegetable Vendors ….

As You Move on the Araku Valley Road , a must Try is the Local Delicacy – Bamboo Chicken !!!! Made from Marignated Chicken , packed in leaves and stuffed into bamboo compartments and all left to the basic fire to do the Magic .

As Your Bamboo Chicken Cooks , You could save some time , On the diagonally Opposite side visit the Robust Local Coffee clubbed with Pepper Plantations . If You are a Person who likes the Shopping Bag to be always Filled – try getting the local coffee beans or powder and get Customised Chicory to Suit your Palate . Nutmegs , Peppers , Cardamom , Cinnamon , Cloves and Just the Rest which you avoid while served at your plate !!!!

– Araku Coffee is Well Known for its Aroma and Depth of Flavour . If you go to Araku ( My Next Blog is all about Araku ) – Go to the Coffee Museum , Now that’s a Big Brand , a Museum which shows you the Painstaking Labour and Process taken , which easily reaches you as your humble wake up Stimulator – The Bed Coffee ☕️

Follow the Directions on the Araku Route , a 6km Detour on your Right , Takes you deep into the Valley , You will be have to cross the Borra Railway Track , a small bridge and the village and then you are at the Borra Caves site .

This is Supposed to be the Gosthani River, which originates here and supplies Vijayanagaram and Vizag before draining into the Bay of Bengal near Beemunipatnam (Will Do an Article about this Beach)

Facts about Borra Caves : Located 1200 metres above sea level . The Limestone Wonders measure as high as 705 metres and run 80 metres deep .

This Andhra Pradesh Tourism Hub is open All days of the week from 10:00 AM – 05:00 PM , Charging 40 INR for Adults and 30 INR for Kids , 25 INR for Camera .

PS : Buying the Camera Ticket shouldn’t be missed , as we often feel it’s an extra big hole in the Pocket !!!!

As You Step In , Feel free to feel that you are into a Hollywood movie set , a different avatar of space away from our concrete blocks . Well maintained and with all maximum safety measures . This natural wonder is a Visual Treat and further illuminated by multi coloured lights .

You can Keep Following the path , which is well laid and directed , You get to walk about 1-2 Km in toto through the Limestone and Bat Dribblings …. There are even stairs to the Shiva Lingam Temple inside the Caves , which has its history related to a local cow boy , missing his cow – which fell into the caves and thus being saved by Lord Siva .

You can still further explore , as you go along the left side , by avoiding the stairs and proceed 500 metres till the caves end . Nature and it’s Picasso on Limestone – Borra Caves , Vizag , AP , India .

Things to Note : Last Entry is by 4:30PM , 2 Cafeterias and the tea stalls and Local snacks are available . No Petrol Station in Borra – Fuel up in Araku or as You Go Back to the 6Km Detour – within 1 km it’s there on the Right side – on your way to Vizag (No Big Signs of Petrol bunk , so go slow and don’t miss it )

Things to Carry : Umbrella , Thermal , Some Basic Food – Biscuits and Fruits , Water , Scarf or Handkerchief – You Really don’t have to get the Bat dribblings on you , Torch , Camera (Not Your Mobile pls).
