When you say Goa, most people start building an image where there are beach parties and a lot of people. This beach however breaks the stereotype in every possible way.
At a distance of 18 km from Dabolim and about 10 km from Margao, this beach has golden sands and is more or less deserted. The only people you'll be able to find here are some local fishermen and a couple of life guards.
Betalbatim beach is an extension of the famous Majorda-Uttorda stretch which covers a coastline of almost 5 km. On reaching there, you have to cross some puddles and a small path will lead you to the beach. This beach covers a coastline of almost 2 km and there is one shack nearby which offers basic food necessities. Unlike other traditional beaches, this one has a range of flora around ranging from sections of huge green bushes to tall green trees.
If you want some time to rediscover yourself, this place would float to the top of the list. The seclusion, beauty and sound of gushing waves is almost perfect to take your mind off anything that's bothering you. Watching such sights just makes you wonder how beautiful a place can be.
For me, running works as a therapy. So I ran the whole length of beach twice and it was one of the most exhilarating runs I have ever had.
Apart from this, there are some steps too near the beach where you can sit and enjoy the seascape.
How to reach:
In general finding public transport which will take you to these secluded places is a tedious task in itself. To visit here, it's best to either hire a cab or rent a bike and go here. Roughly the idea of route is - Vasco -> Dabolim -> Queeny -> Velsao -> Uttorda.
Things to carry:
A spare set of clothes is a must as you'll be tempted to rush in the water from the beach. It's a relatively clean beach so it's safe for a swim too.
Power bank, in case you are using your phone camera for clicking pictures.
Water bottle as there are very few things around this area. Although you can get it barely 3 km from here but it's still preferable to carry your own bottles.
