Travel enthusiasts will have more than one reason to visit the snow paradise of Kashmir, this March! The world-famous ski destination of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host a five-day long National Winter Games from March 7, 2020 under the Khelo India Programme.
Surrounded by mountain peaks in the backdrop and several feet of snow, one of the most beautiful destinations in the world will see athletes from all over the country coming in to participate in the initiative.
Introduced by the Union Ministry of Sports to revive sports at a grass-root level, the program will have 30 events under four disciplines including snowboarding, cross country, snow skiing and snow show. You can also witness locals participating in snow cycling, and other games on the side.
Concerned officials in the committee include major head of departments from the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) and even former Olympian Gul Mustafa Dev. These officials have been asked to constitute committees for putting in place arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event including lodging, boarding and transport facilities for the guests and players.
