Earlier I wrote a blog about my first day in Kasol, If you haven't read that you should give it a read and then continue on this one.
So here it is about what and all happened on the second day, We woke up around 9 am and freshen up in some time to have breakfast, While having breakfast one of my friends suggested that we should go to Malana and check out the area as it very famous for various things such as its trek is doable for beginners and you get world Famous 'Hash' in Malana names as Malana Cream.
So when we finished our breakfast we went to our rooms and packed a few things for the journey as we had to do trekking to reach Malana we packed only one bag with all the essentials (when you're planning to go for a trek always prefer to pack very light and only essentials because a heavy bag will slow you down, your body will be tired very soon and in a difficult situation a heavy bag can be a problem when you're trying to maintain balance) and then we head towards the taxi point in Kasol to take us to Malana trekking point, which is hardly 20 kms distance but took us more than an hour to reach there.
When we reached there at the trekking point of Malana there was a small tea point/cafe we sat there and thought to start our trekking in some time till then we interacted with some locals (there is a thing about Himachal locals they are so sweet and helping in nature that you feel like you're around your people) they have some really amazing and exciting stories about the incidents that take place in Himachal.
So we got to indulge in the stories that we somehow forgot about our trekking plan and it was almost evening so we somehow got up from there and decided to go for trekking about be back in 3-4 hours as it is a small trek so it won't take much time.
So this is the gate from where the trek starts for Malana and the second image is the view of Malana from the gate.
So we started trekking to Malana around 4:30 pm, Before starting the trek when we were talking to the locals they told us about the trek, and in the starting, it is a downhill trek for half the distance and then it is a steep uphill trek. So after we started our luck just started playing games with us, it started raining heavily but somehow we finished half the trek and it was time for the uphill climb and because of the rain it became very slippery so soon we grab some strong stick for each one of us and started trek but it was taking way more time than expected it was almost 6 pm and we had covered almost 70% distance, then we saw a group a people coming back from Malana and they just confirmed that we have horrible luck today, they told Malana has been closed for outsiders as there has been some accident when a party was held last night some outsiders misbehaved with locals and as people who know about Malana they know that Malana has its own lifestyle and social structure and people are strict in following their customs and beliefs. So we had no other option than to return back to the tea point and look for a taxi to go back to our hotel.
So with a little disappointed we started to trek back to the cafe and it started raining heavily again so we had to stop in the middle for shelter for quite some time and later we started to trek again. Somehow with all the disappointment and struggle, we reached the same tea point again it was around 8:30 and as we were new in the area we didn't know that after 8 we hardly get any taxi or anything to go back to Kasol, So we sat there at the tea point and we tried for some time but we couldn't get any taxi as it was very late in the night we were kind of stuck in an unfortunate situation then the tea point owner was very helpful to us seeing our situation he offered us to sit in his hut, while we wait for the taxi to come as it was getting very cold and our clothes were already wet due to rain.
Amar (tea point owner) told us that he knew some taxi guys in Kasol he can call them and ask them if anyone is ready to come here and pick us. We were like please do it and soon we saw a few Israelis came there too and they were looking for a taxi as well to go to Kasol so Amar spoke to few taxi people and most of those guys were not ready to come, as it was raining continuously and the road around that area was not good so that's why it was tough to ask anyone to come there in that situation but somehow one guy agreed he told us it'll take some time for him to reach because of the weather condition so had to wait for him till 10:30 pm as we had booked a jeep so that it can accommodate everyone (me and my friends and the Israelis) as soon as we sat in the jeep we felt relaxed that finally we gonna go to our hotel have dinner and take some rest it was a very tragic and tiring day.
On the 3rd day, My friend randomly got a call from his friends that they are in Kasol as well and they plan to go to Waichin valley, So in the next blog I'll be writing about how everything went on that day and how we decided to join them for Waichin valley trek.
