It has been three months of 2022 and things have got back into the monotonous cycle - 9 to 5 work from home, eating and no sleep. To escape this boredom, a sudden trip to the snow-capped mountains with lush greenery around is just what was needed at that time. Added to that, the triund trek in the Himachal with my friends is cherry on the top. So, without wasting much time, let's begin a new journey.
We travelled to Delhi and from Delhi boarded a bus to Dharamshala. After a 12 hour journey, we reached Dharamshala around 9 am the next day. We immediately booked a cab and went to McleodGanj, which is 5km from Dharamshala. We went directly to the Thrilophilia office, unloaded our bags in locker rooms provided and got ready for our trek. After a light breakfast, we slowly moved towards our destination .
It was a 9 km trek to triund which can make you fall in love with the mountains. As we started our ascent we were joined by other people in our group. After trekking for 5km, we reached our base camp. The view from the base camp was majestic. We could see the snow-cladded mountains and the whole Mcleodganj was visible from there. We were assigned our camps and had our lunch there. We rested for that day in our camps and watched the sunset from there. At night we set up a bonfire and we played music, had dinner and chatted till midnight. It was chilling up there, but sitting in front of the bonfire with strangers and chatting, under the starry sky, was a completely new experience for me.
Next day we started trekking towards triund top. It was a difficult trek but after climbing to the top, the view of the mighty Dhauladhar range was all worth the climb. The entire Dhauladhar range was covered with snow. As we climbed higher, we also got snow in our path. The snow made it a little difficult to trek but this was my first ever experience of snow trekking so after crossing magic point and slipping n number of times, we finally reached there. After reaching triund top, around 2pm in the afternoon, it felt like we were at the top of the world. We stayed there for 2hrs, enjoying the beauty and the serenity of the mountains.
All around us was nothing but fields of snow and the daunting mountain ranges. We had maggi and tea at the top and then around 4pm, as the weather started to change, we started our descent. We witnessed the snow-capped Dhauladhar range turning from white to orange at sunset. At that moment, I realized that, however tough the mountains are, they always give you beautiful memories . It was absolutely breathtaking!!
We returned to our camps and stayed there for the night . It was our last night in the camps, so after a tiring day we made the bonfire and enjoyed the night. With no connectivity on our phone, away from all the chaos of life and completely cut off from others, those couple of days were so peaceful.
Next morning we had to descend, even though we didn't want to. We took a few group photos and started to descend. It took 45 min to descend and we reached the Bhagsu Waterfall. We stayed there for a while and then returned to Thilophila's office, took our bags and left for Dharamshala. It was one hell of a journey and was absolutely worth it.
If you're a beginner and want to witness the mountains closely, this place should surely be on your bucket list.
Happy Travelling!!
