Sikkim, this beautiful state of North-east, Nestled in the mountains between India and Tibet, attracts the tourists from all around the world.

Travel : The best way to get to Sikkim is to take a flight to Bagdogra Airport. There are flights from most big cities in India.

It hardly takes 4-5 hours to reach Gangtok from Bagdogra.

Best time to visit ? : 'November mid to December mid' and 'February mid to april mid'.

The following itinerary is well suited for all travelers :)

Fun Fact : I traveled with my mom and it was a whole different experience for her as well. So lets get moving guys!

Day 1

Reach Bagdogra Airport (IXB) by afternoon so as to reach Gangtok by evening. You can easily hire a Shared/Reserved cab from Bagdogra Airport at a very reasonable cost starting from Rs. 749/person. Drop me an email to further connect with the reliable trip organizers cum taxi holders. Pro Tip : Try to reach Bagdogra Airport by 2 pm since the way to Gangtok is quite steep and over the hills. The sun sets at sharp 5.

Accommodations : We stayed at Treebo Trend Nettle And Fern. It's quite close to MG Marg (the main street to roam around in Gangtok). The place is full of hotels within all budgets.

Food Stops : Don't forget to try The Coffee Shop, Osm Restro And Lounge, The Square and The Baker's Cafe. Feasting on local delicacies like Momos, Noodles etc. is a must thing.

Day 2

If you open your eyes and sneak out the window to find yourself amidst the mountains, welcome to Gangtok! Get ready to witness the winter wonderland at 14000 ft. Yes! prepare yourself in advance for the most amazing ride to East Sikkim heading Nathula Pass, Baba Mandir and Tsmongo Lake. For all these destinations, advance permit is required and hence you will need to submit your documents one day prior to the one arranging Taxi. Don't worry, it's a simple task!

You would love the terrains along the journey altogether, don't get surprised if you stay awestruck for next 4-5 hours.

Fun Fact : If you are an iOS user, you would be able to catch China's time zone all of it by itself. Also, there is a slight chance that you would be able to see how traffic looks at such heights within the mountains.

Day 3

After an exhaustive Day 2, we headed to South Sikkim. Try to start by 8 am and head directly to Namchi. Visit Char Dhaam and Sai Mandir. You will be amused to see the replicas of all major religious spots of India. The place is a Pilgrimage-cum-Cultural Centre and is constructed on top of the Solophok Hill in South-Sikkim. Head to Ravangla after having lunch on the way. Visit The Buddha Park of Ravangla. It features a 130-foot high statue of the Buddha as its centerpiece. Head back to Gangtok or West Sikkim if you are having more days in hand.

Day 4

There could be no better way to summarize the trip to Sikkim. The most awaited Lachen is here. If the Rain, Wind, Snow, Landslide, Roads, BSF, BRO, Sikkim Police and most importantly, if your body can push through the 65km road/no road filled with slush, rocks and water streams as well as the dramatic climb to 17200 ft, it merely let's you see it. Take a overnight halt in Lachen.

Accommodations : We stayed at Rufina Blue Pine. You can also consider Delight the Fortuna Lachen for a budget trip.

Day 5

Start early morning to see the Glorious Gurudongmar Lake. The symphony of terrains will leave you speechless for sure. After having your lunch done, head to Lachung to stay overnight there. Midway to Lachung, don't forget to let your eyes take a dip into the beautiful lake of Chungthang.

Accommodations : We stayed at Delight Lachung Heritage Hotel. The hotel is quite cozy, easily located, budget friendly and serves delicious food.

Day 6

Head to Yumthang Valley and Zero Point. We started around 6:30 am to reach the snow covered valleys which are about 35 kms from Lachung. After having lunch, head back to Gangtok with a basket full of memories. PS : You need an advance permit to visit Lachen and Lachung. So don't forget to discuss the same with your trip planner a day in advance.

Day 7

What could be more sorrowful than knowing that great days would be at halt. With a heart full of beautiful things and new explorations, we headed to Bagdogra Airport to catch a flight back to Delhi. No less than 6 hours should be kept in hand to reach the airport.
