Goa & Churches

Tripoto

I started backpacking back in 2020 after first unlock in India, since then I spent 2-3 months in Goa once or twice in a year.

When I had first visited Goa in 2017 with my friends, spent 3 nights like a regular tourist. For that duration we did what is expected out of a tourist - go to bars and party all night, cover all the famous spots, do water sports, etc. That trip made me so unfulfilled, I remember thinking that this can't be it, I have to visit this place again. I was never a "covering spots" kind of a traveller. I enjoy random things like sunsets, the roads, the greenary, the culture, locals, etc.

Now, I had a lot of time in my hands, thanks to "no return ticket". And I got a chance to "explore" Goa. It is so beautifully diverse.

One of things that caught my attention was the beautiful Churches. There are hundreds of Churches in Goa, especially the north side. Also, North Goa has way more churches than South Goa. I realised that the Portuguese influence was very less seen in the Southern part.

There are churches from the time Portuguese lived there. Some of them constructed back in 1400s. Churches are one of my favourite places in Goa to just sit and relax. All of them are so beautiful and peaceful.

The church in the pictures is St Bartholomew's Church in Chorão island. I have been to many churches in Goa, this is one of my favourites.
