Africa holds a special place in my heart, and after traveling to 20+ countries across the globe, I still feel that nothing matches the rugged wilderness that lingers in the air here. So, to celebrate my 31st birthday, I decided to travel to South Africa with my 70-year-old aunt, and it was one of the best trips of my life. I remember when I was planning the trip, my aunt said, "Don't you think 11 days will be too long for a trip? Can't we do it in a week?" And while we were boarding our flight to return home, she said, "Can't believe the trip is over. We could have stayed for a few more days!" I had a smile on my face, and I knew that both of us were equally in love with the country. It was a journey filled with laughter, awe-inspiring moments, and unforgettable experiences that have left an indelible mark on our hearts.

From the majestic landscapes and thrilling wildlife encounters to the rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality of its people, every moment spent in this captivating country was filled with excitement and discovery. Whether you're exploring the vibrant streets of Cape Town, embarking on a safari in Kruger National Park, or tasting the world-class wines of the Cape Winelands, South Africa offers a treasure trove of experiences just waiting to be uncovered. As we delved deeper into South Africa's complex history, we were struck by its resilience and spirit of reconciliation. From the poignant reminders of apartheid in Soweto to the historic battlefields of KwaZulu-Natal, the country's past is both sobering and inspiring. We visited landmarks such as the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg and Robben Island, gaining insight into the struggles and triumphs of the nation's journey towards democracy and equality. It was a humbling experience that left us with a newfound appreciation for the strength and resilience of the South African people. My favorite, however, was the District Six Museum in Cape Town, where I came across real stories of people who were forced to leave their land during the darker days, and it gave me goosebumps thinking of how difficult life was for them.

It was from them, that we got to know about the lives of the people, their culture and heritage. As I’m writing this, I remember the happy face of Zaahir (our chauffeur) and his excitement to show us his favorite sports around Cape Town.
