Organisers are going ahead with all guns blazing to ensure that the festival is at par with international standards. There will be several categories, including under-16, junior boys (17-22 year-olds), senior men (22-28 year-olds), master men (28 and above), and an open women's category. There will also be an open men's category for all non-Indian surfers. A chunk of the referees is coming over from Indonesia, USA and Australia to maintain fairness and decorum in the proceedings. The cash prize is a total of around Rs. 6 lakh, for winners across all categories. Woah!

There will also be other attractions at the event, such as a coastal food festival and a variety of other cultural programmes to keep spectators in spirits.

The event will also serve as a brilliant platform to showcase the tourism hub that is Karnataka. The state is gifted with sublime natural beaches that can double up as surfing and adventure destinations as well. This particular event will take place at the Sasihithlu Beach.

Besides the surfing festival, the state tourism ministry also plans to add sky diving and motorcycling festivals to its calendar in order to lure tourists and adventure fanatics alike to the state. Karnataka Tourism is going the extra mile towards promoting wildlife tourism as they had declared 2017 as the Year of the Wild.
