Embark on a journey to Kerala, fondly dubbed "God's Own Country," a dream long deferred by the constraints of student life. But fear not, for with the gracious sponsorship of MakeMyTrip, your dream is now within reach. Begin your adventure from Delhi or any nearby transport hub, setting your sights on the captivating city of Kochi. A word to the wise: avoid those airport vodka shots; they're a pricey indulgence, my friend!
Day 1: Arrival in Kochi
Touching down in Kochi, hop on a bus from Ernakulam to Fort Kochi. Opt for the humble abodes of hostels over lavish resorts, settling into lodgings at The Hosteller Fort Kochi or Zostel Fort Kochi. Roam the storied streets of Fort Kochi, adorned with ancient Chinese fishing nets and historic churches. Indulge in the exotic flavors of local cuisine, shunning the familiar allure of Italian or French fare. Navigate the town's nooks and crannies with ease, whether by bicycle or the ubiquitous tuk-tuks.

Day 2: Exploring Kochi
A leisurely day in Kochi awaits, offering ample opportunities for exploration, cultural immersion, and hearty conversations with the locals. Alternatively, venture towards Munnar, a verdant paradise. Pack your essentials and embark on a scenic journey via local buses, soaking in Kerala's diverse landscapes. Arriving at Moolkadai bus stop, a stone's throw from Munnar, find sanctuary at Zostel Munnar, where the camaraderie of fellow travelers awaits amidst the ethereal charm of tea plantations.

Day 3: Chasing Sunrise at Kolukkumalai
With the dawn of day, embark on a thrilling quest to witness the sunrise at Kolukkumalai. Secure your slots the previous night at Zostel's reception and set forth on a thrilling drive to the peak, savoring every twist and turn along the way. Return to the hostel for a well-deserved respite, later exploring tea factories and the picturesque Pothamedu viewpoint, reveling in the serenity of Kerala's landscapes.

Day 4: Top Station and Evening Bonfires
Fuel up with a hearty breakfast and set forth towards Top Station, pausing to discover hidden gems en route (Tea factory, Photopoints, Beautiful reserviors). As the sun dips below the horizon, gather around the crackling bonfire at Zostel, swapping stories and forging lasting bonds amidst the warmth of camaraderie.

Day 5: Farewell to Munnar and Beyond
Bid adieu to Munnar and set your sights on new horizons. Whether Vagamon or Thekkady beckons, Kerala's myriad wonders await. Alternatively, embark on a journey to Wayanad, a haven of natural splendor and cultural riches. Alternatively, the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey offer a serene retreat. Dive into the Alleppey experience, basking in the glory of its backwaters, and cap off the day with a serene sunset kayak adventure.

Day 6: Mangrove Kayaking and Munroe Island
Extend your stay in Alleppey and explore Marari Beach, Alleppey Beach, and other coastal treasures, or journey onwards to Varkala. Check train schedules for a seamless transition from Alleppey to Varkala, finding yourself amidst the cozy confines of Lost Hostels. Delight in the allure of Varkala Beach, the bustling cliff market, and the mystical Jatayu Earth Centre, surrendering to the serene beauty of Varkala's black sand beach.

Day 7: Coastal Rhapsody at Varkala
Commence your day early with kayaking amidst the mangrove forests, followed by a visit to Kollam Beach. Then, hop on a boat from Kollam to Munroe Island for a delightful day of exploration before returning to Varkala in the evening.

Day 8: Coastal Rhapsody at Varkala
Unwind at Varkala Beach and take some time to explore the cozy cafes scattered around. As it's your final day in Kerala, opt for a laid-back experience with minimal exploration. This is my preferred way to conclude every trip.

Day 8: Homeward Journey
Conclude your Kerala trip and head to Trivandrum airport, a 1 hour train journey from Varkala awaits to whisk you homeward, carrying cherished memories of Kerala's boundless beauty and charm.
