The best sight a traveller gets is lovely coconut trees surrounding the beach where dark blue waters of Arabian Sea hits the brown sands and in many places the waters hit the rocks too.

1) Varkala beach

It is also known as papanasam beach filled with cliffs. A very popular beach on the outskirts of Trivandrum that the unique fact is there is a natural spring popular for its herbal qualities. There is a 2000 year old temple, Janardhana swamy temple devoted to Lord Vishnu near the beach waters. Filled with nature and picturesque views it a must visit shoreline spot.

A popular tourist spot of alleppey town, which has the famous 150 year old pier. This beach conducts sand art fest every year while camel safaris play a major part of this beach things to do. The drive road to the beach is scenic, while Jain temple, vijay park and lighthouse are places around to visit. A great place to capture sunset views of alleppey.

Ko + Valam means coconut grove. Located 13km away Trivandrum with a history from Regent Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, this beach was a part of Travancore kingdom. Stretching 17km surrounded by lovely green coconut trees this beach extension is Ashoka beach and samudra beach. Karaman is another name of this beach which is a fishing village from 1970, 3km is Port Vizhinjam, while hippy era of India prevailed in this beach centuries ago. Besides resorts ayurvedic massages and spas are popularly done facing the beach premises.

Also known as Calicut beach, this beach is locally known as Gandhi road beach. In 1934 Gandhiji visited Calicut renaming the beach so. With 100 years old history in 1989 this beach was known as Mananchira, then from 2010 this geography came in between Thundayad bypass and palazhi. Extension of this beach is, Beypore, elathur and vellayil. This beach is a food paradise where shoppers could shop to their hearts content.

5) SHANKUMUGHAM BEACH

Located on west side of Trivandrum surrounded by vast stretch of white sands, coconut trees, this beach is known as Arattukadavu devoted to Sri Padmanabhaswamy form of Lord Vishnu. This sea is a part of laccadive sea, where cultural procession was done by Travancore kings, another unique fact about this beach is sagarkanyaka mermaid statue. Veli is a tourist village near this beach, while boating is a popular sport of this beach.

6) ANDHAKARANAZHI BEACH

Located 4km away from Pattankkad village, this beach water flows into paddy fields of Thuravoor and kuthiathode. Similarly excess waters from paddy fields gets drained into the sea. There is a lighthouse on the beach premises. Surrounded by panaromic views, overlooking coconut grooves, calm sea waters, this beach is a popular hangout and tourist spot of alleppey. One place to experience great calmness offering peace.
