Day 1

Meghan David Synogauge, one of the most prominent place for the Yahudi Community settled in Kolkata.

Once, migrants from Israel came in large numbers to Kolkata for trade. They settled here and made 3 Synogauge in the same namely NEVEL SHYLOME, BETH EL and MEGHAN DAVID SYNOGAUGE.

Now, with the passing of time the place is abandoned but under the maintenance of ASI (Archeological Survey of India). There are just as few as 27 families left here. They are also getting older with time and eventually would leave one day, leaving behind a Rich Treasure to be neglected and wasted by the local people who has opened Shops in front of it and govt policies too.

Although my visit was well. All you have to do is to plead to the Security and then Bribe them to get entry. As simple as that. (*Wink)

But the moment i entered i was Awestruck to the beauty of it. The lights, chandelier, coloured glasses of Windows and decor was mesmerizing. Perfectly arranged Chairs, Praying Dias, Books. It transformed my anger of having pleaded the guard and that bribe into love for the place i was in.

How could something so beautiful in the main area of a city be neglected by the Govt and people. It's a real treasure for everyone to care about.

If in Kolkata, please do pay a visit to the place. I gurantee you will love it.
