Weekend Outing: An afternoon at College Street aka Boi Para…

Tripoto

“What College Street means to you?” I asked my husband.

“Nostalgia,” he replied.

Indeed nostalgia! University Campus, Coffee House, Putiram, the book stores, the lanes, every corner of this Boi Para makes us nostalgic. Once a regular Adda Zone has now turned into a sort of tourist spot for us. So after a long time when I visited this place of Kolkata, I was embraced with warm feelings.

Now we usually order books online. On some occasions, we do buy books from book shops. I was looking for a couple of books including ‘The Elements of Style’ and ‘Atomic Habits’, but I got only the latter one; they said the former one is out of stock and will be available only after a few days. So writing down the names of the books on paper and then enquiring about the same was a lovely feeling. I did this after ages.

It was noon and my stomach was screaming for attention. So, I dropped by Putiram and devoured a plate of ‘Kachori and Chholar Daal’ and also packed some sweets for home. As I was gorging on the Kachoris, I already started dreaming about Paramount’s ‘Daber Shorbot’. Oh, it’s heavenly.

If you are a book lover and enjoy exploring heritage eateries, do drop by College Street. It has many food joints that are more than 100 years old.
