Under 1000 rupees , my weekend gateway to Matheran

I stay in Pune and it was a long weekend in July month. So we decided to explore the nearby hill station Matheran under budget travelling.

Matheran is a hill station located near Mumbai, in the West Indian state of Maharashtra. Matheran has located about 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Neral. The Matheran is Known as 'Maharashtra's Gift' with its 38 peak points, is a great getaway from the pandemonium of city life.

We started our journey from Pune railway station got a ticket for neral which is the nearest railway station of Matheran, you can get a general ticket at 40 rupees.

After we reached neral, there are shared taxi drivers which will take you to the entrance gate of Matheran at 40 rupees per seat. after reaching there you need to collect entrance ticket which is mandatory to enter the hill station.

From entrance point to the main locality is approx 3 km far, either you can go by mini-train or by hiring a horse, but if you are adventure and want to enjoy nature then take a walk from the railway line as it is a straight road so nothing to bother, in one side it will be a deep valley and another side steep jungle. after reaching there we took a guest house near the police station at 700 Rs for 3 people.so after delicious lunch in the afternoon we thought to explore nearby areas only as it gets dark in the early evening here.

So first we went to Charlotte Lake, At a distance of 2 km from Matheran Railway Station, Charlotte Lake, also known as Charlotte Lake is one of the popular Matheran tourist places situated near Echo Point.
Then we headed to nearby echo point, it
is one of the famous points of interest in Matheran hill station and it offers a wonderful view of the surroundings. As the name suggests, Echo Point is the place where one can hear the echoes from the mountains. our day ended here and we headed back to the guest house for rest.

Next day we tried to cover maximum places, as we opt to explore all by walking only, it is a cheap and most convenient method there if you don't have the health issue and ready to trek.

First place we went to was King George Point,Alexander Point is almost 1.5 km from the marketplace (a 20-minute walk), and is easy to reach in terms of distance, navigation and slope. It's a very pleasant walk from one's hotel to this point as you walk through woods, on a very narrow path over red soil, interacting with green trees. The peak offers good views of other points of the region and the valley below.

Louisa Point is almost 1.5 km away from the marketplace and will take around 20 minutes to reach here on foot. If it's a clear sunny day, this place will offer you breathtaking views that will compel you to settle down here for a moment. This is a unique point in Matheran as it offers two different picturesque views. From one point, you can see the sky touching the mountains and a civilisation located far in a valley. If you visit during monsoon, you'll also be captivated by waterfalls.

sunset point is one of the famous points here, you can enjoy your freedom and own company here and if lucky you can witness a stunning magical sunset.so our trip to Matheran ends hereunder 1000 bucks for 2 days.
