Staycations are emerging as the absolute favourite type of holidays, it's easy, convenient, requires much less planning, cost effective and also saves up a lot of travel time. If it were upto me, I'd be using up all the long weekends this year and purely indulge in beautiful resorts to Eat - Play - Chill - Repeat.
The only aspect which takes some time is the road trip, Normally it would take us 3-4 hours to go from Mumbai to Lonavla/Alibaug/Nasik including travel + pit stops but what if I said you can completely eradicate this 6 to 8 hours of travel time to reach and come back from your staycation? Intrigued? I have more!
What If I said, there is a resort right in Mumbai which will feel nothing like the chaos of Mumbai, you will forget all the hustle and bustle of the city life, away from the traffic and stress? Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce to you - Saya Grand Resort and Spa! I shall break down all the information you need and my experience below:
1. Location
If it isn't clear already, I absolutely love the aspect of transporting to my resort in less than one hour. Don't get me wrong, I do like road trips but not having to worry about sitting in a car for three hours or taking unnecessary pit stops or having the luxury of sleeping a little extra and going to your staycay well rested and fresh like a daisy sure is exciting! Saya Grand Resort is located in Thane and took me a little less than 1 hour to reach there (around 32kms). If you stay closer to Thane, it could take you even lesser time. While the resort is in Mumbai, you would not for a minute feel that. It legit feels like you are in a very luxurious and spacious resort far away from the city life. This vacation is relaxing without having to really travel for it! It couldn't get better than this!
2. Amenities and Services
Saya Grand Resort and Spa is an extremely huge and spacious resort offering a bunch of amenities. It has over 12+ pools including the common pool plus private pools in rooms and villas. They have a massive gaming room with a bunch of indoor games and a lot of new Virtual Reality games which is a paradise for everyone who enjoys gaming zones and VR.
They also have open spaces for outdoor games, it is perfect for team outings and family and friends gatherings. Those fun cricket matches and Throw Ball tournaments which you've been planning for a while but didn't even have a good enough place for, well now you have it! They also have a spa which we didn't get a chance to try but in case you are someone who enjoys a good massage, you know what to look forward to! You can also ride bicycles in the resort, there is massive space for that too.
3. All about Food and Hospitality
Without sounding like I am exaggerating, the food is incredible at the resort. They have a massive menu providing Indian, Italian, Chinese and Continental dishes. They have an open air and indoor restaurant which is beautiful. I recommend having at least one meal in the Al Fresco (Outdoor) seating, either breakfast/high tea or dinner. They have a lovely set up with lights and aesthetic ambience. There is also a bar which is always a good idea for evening cocktails/mocktails and a good conversation. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. The team is always smiling and on their toes to make your experience a delightful one.
4. Type of Rooms
This is another very striking aspect of Saya Grand Resort, the number of rooms and the different types is quite a perfect destination to celebrate different occasions. Be it weddings, small gatherings, a relaxing staycay for a couple, team outings or even to party with friends. There is something for everyone. There are 3/4/5 BHK villas with private pools if you are looking to book for a family or a group of friends. There are deluxe rooms, premium rooms, family suites to accommodate a family of 4. My personal favorite is the Pool Suite, these are rooms with a private pool and cosy outdoor seating. The rooms have a premium feel and are ideal for a couple. There is also a presidential suite which is nothing short of royalty. It is beautiful and straight out of a mansion we've been seeing in the movies.
5. Perfect Wedding Destination
This resort is spacious with 100+ rooms, we saw two wedding functions taking place while we were there and all I could think of, how convenient and smart this is. It's like a destination wedding in your own city! While speaking to one of the managers, we learnt that there is a separate building which will accommodate only wedding guests, it has a private roof top pool and the banquets are close by. This is a great choice for for Mumbaikars and an ideal destination for wedding festivities.
All in all, we are thoroughly impressed and cannot wait to be back for a relaxing staycation at Saya Grand!
