I woke up at 5.00 am so that I could catch the 6.08 am train to Virar and reach the beach on time! However when I reached by 7.55 am I was told that I'd need to wait till 9.30 am for the waves so that we could surf!
We had a lovely instructor who knew exactly what he was doing and I learnt quite a lot about the water sport !
We had quite a few people in the water with us but I was always so scared of letting go of the board and standing up and surfing!
Only towards the end when the instructor said just enjoy and have fun was when I was able to prop up on the board, let of my fear of falling into the water and maintain my balance!
There were some Japanese Folks there too who were super supportive and kept saying I was doing great.
While lying on the boat in the middle of the sea I realised that we are nothing compared to it's vastness. I prayed to the sea to give me the strength to ride her waves and asked for permission to do so too before I surfed because after all nature is the most beautiful creation of the Almighty.
I got thoroughly tanned right after, had bruises on my knee and my shoulders hurt alot but I suppose there's no gain without a little pain right?
Here are all the details and I'd definitely recommend you try it atleast once in your life! And yes you have to know swimming!
We at Mumbai Surf Club based out of Rajodi beach Virar conduct surfing/SUP lessons on daily basis(Tuesdays closed).
1 session- INR 1500 (90mins) - surf experience
Surf Course - 8 sessions- INR 9000 - level 1, level 2 and level 3
15 surf sessions and unlimited surfboard rentals-25000 (1 year)
We also conduct Stand-Up paddle board lessons( 1500 INR for 90 minutes)
and Rent SUPs (1000 for 90 minutes)
We also conduct Skateboarding/Longboarding lessons
We do organise Camping by the beach and BBQ and also have a small little cafe for the Guests to relax and recharge themself.
