For a quick weekend away from Mumbai, Nashik is the best getaway. I had been to Sula Vineyards last month and was pretty impressed with the property, ambience, food and wine tour. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much from Soma Vineyards. As I was visiting igatpuri with friends, we decided to explore Soma Vineyards as well. The drive from igatpuri to Soma is of 1.5 hrs and it is 3 km away from Sula Vineyards. This 3 km road is pretty patchy and uncomfortable drive. As we reached at 3pm and were hungry, we headed straight to Soul Curry restaurant. You will find awesome and tasty food at this place. We ordered Darjeeling Momos, Lasagne, Prawns and Paneer Tikka. This property is located along side the edge of Gangapur Dam and provides a spectacular view from balcony of the restaurant. Find a table near balcony to enjoy the view. Honestly, as compared to Sula Vineyards, this place is less crowded and peaceful. I was surprised to find very less number of people at this place because Sula was swarming with people and blasting with loud music.
We also signed up for wine tour and tasting. They charge Rs 350/- per person. Honestly, Sula's wine tour is way better in terms of premises, presentation, knowledge sharing and bar ambience.
This premises also houses Regenta Resort Soma Vine Village for stay. We visited it's restaurant named 'Surahi' for coffee and sandwiches. You can enjoy a great sunset view from this place.
To conclude, you can change your weekend destination from Lonavala/ Khandala to Nashik for a quick getaway. A quick itinerary can be as follows:
•Start a early drive from your place and reach igatpuri till 11 am
•Spend time at igatpuri waterfall and lake (near Mahindra colony)
•Reach Soma Vineyards and have lunch at Soul Curry restaurant.
•Register yourself for wine tour and tasting.
•Enjoy the beautiful sunset and head back to your place.
