Day 1

After about a 6 hour long night flight from Delhi, we reached Singapore early in the morning around 6 a.m. and as the city is infamous for its unpredictable weather, especially with the rains, we were welcomed by some light shower.

I was staying with my friend at her flat and the journey from the world’s most beautiful airport ( CHANGI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT) till her flat, through all the scenic views of the beaches by the side, skyscrapers and unbelievably green and clean city was too new and too much for me to sink in, considering I was coming from Delhi, a place that sadly has none of these charms.

After a nap for a good two hours, we went out to explore the city in the local bus which again to my surprise were so clean and well maintained that I couldn't help but compare everything with how it was in Delhi, throughout my trip.

It was my first time sitting in a double decker bus. And the view of the city with so many small and colourful houses on the sides of beautifully decorated and well lit streets, was too pretty to not be captured.

After strolling through some random streets with pretty little cafes all around the sidewalk,  we took a bus to Sentosa Island which happens to harbour most of the tourist attractions of the city.

My friend took me to the Underwater SEA Aquarium which has a number of sea creatures including whales, turtles, snakes and some more fish that I was least interested in. Although the Aquarium was huge and very well maintained but I personally found it boring and wouldn't really recommend it to others.

After that we went to a Casino situated on the same Island. This was another of my many firsts. We got free entry to the Casino upon showing our passports and also as many free drinks as we liked.

Played a few games. Lost and won a few dollars but what was most surprising was to see so many old-age, chinese and native singaporean people playing poker and other games in the casino. If we were half as talented as they were, we would have made quite a fortune ourselves.

Anyway, by then we were too tired to explore more so we took a monorail to come out of SENTOSA ISLAND, followed by a bus back to our flat.

Like a child who loves to stick his face out of the window to see the world outside, I kept my eyes wide open and marvelled at the city’s beauty through the darkness of the night.

And we called it a day
