It’s time to take your doggo love to the next level and, I am not talking about just taking them on a trip, I am talking about a stay-cation with your furry BFFs in a giant house shaped like a beagle!
And I am here to tell you about this paw-some bed and breakfast where there isn’t a fragment of doubt as to whether your dog is welcome or not.
The Dog Bark Park Inn B&B is a giant dog-shaped house in Idaho. The beagle-shaped two-bedroom house in Cottonwood, Idaho is dog-themed inside out.
Ideal for:
Dog lovers, pet families and anyone who wishes to spend the night in a quirky accommodation.
About the property
This five-star-reviewed property looks just like a beagle, right down to the brown and white colouring, googly eyes, and dog collar. To access the house, guests must climb up to the second-story deck. The home fits four guests and has two bedrooms–one in the dog’s belly and a loft in the dog’s head and one bathroom, conveniently located in the dog’s rear.
The inside is decorated with doggy decor, puzzles, games and comes with WiFi. A balcony provides pleasant views over the meadow and the mountains during the days and the star-embellished night sky post-sunset. The owners, Frances and Dennis, sell their carved wooden dog figurines in the gift shop and live up the hill, in a normal house. The whole Dog Bark Park, including the studio and shop, has been open for over 20 years.
Rooms:
While one of the bedrooms comes with a queen bed, the other has two twin beds and one bathroom. Both the beds are done up to the nines (rather canines) with doggy décor. Since the Dog Bark Park Inn can only take on one group of guests at a time you get the entire beagle to yourself.
History:
It all began with the story of a dog-loving husband and wife duo Frances and Dennis who are also chainsaw artists specialising in dog carvings and their golden retriever Sprocket. The couple used their professional skills to materialise their love for their pets and created the biggest carving of all, the world’s largest beagle house.
It was in the late 1990s that they built a 12-foot beagle named Toby, on the property. Then they decided to build an even bigger beagle—a 30-foot tall one and use it as a guest house. In 2003, they opened the Dog Bark Park Inn B&B in Cottonwood, Idaho, which is located four hours from Boise. The house became a popular stop for sightseers, so a few years ago they started renting it out via Airbnb. Soon it became a famous landmark in the state and the locals began to call the bigger dog “Sweet Willy”.
Food
Snacks and “in-the-dog breakfast” is included in the stay. Though Sweet Willy doesn’t have a kitchen, the hosts provide with delectable homemade muffins.
There's also a downtown area just a kilometre away with a park, coffee shop, grocery stores, and other businesses, and there's a restaurant a five-minute walk from the beagle.
