If you want sense of the history of Pondy then Pondicherry museum should not be missed. This place is right near at the Bharti Park circle, it is a small museum which consists of various coins and other dug up stones. They also have a small painting gallery which is very beautiful.
I received my dose of history-fix at the Puducherry Museum, which showcases a variety of historically-relevant artifacts – from sculptures and colonial furniture, to coins and an ancient tree trunk. The entry fee is INR 10, although I do encourage visitors to contribute a bit more, for the upkeep and maintenance of the museum.
MuseumsIf you’re someone who is not a museum lover, skip this. As someone who loves history and seeing old antique things, I always make a point to see museums. Puducherry museum located on St Louis Street has a unique collection of excavated objects as well as a gallery of things used during the French Colonial. Photography is prohibited inside and with a minimal charge of Rs.10 to Rs.20, you get entry to the museum.
