My love affair with Portugal started about six months ago.The country has so much of warmth positivity and vibrancy which leaves you feeling rejuvenated and in a state of pure joy
Few of the places I've visited over the past few months which are worth visiting and are extremely scenic
Placa do Comercia ( tourist site) and terrero Do Paco
-Martim moniz ( area)-best place for illegal chinese and vietnamese food
(also has a flee market every satruday-if you like)- Fera La Ladra
-Barbados Gallery-for art ( but isnt in the centre)
Popular places - for food/drinks -If you want to party and drink head to Bairro alto after ten pm
-Bibo Bar at Bairro
-Jazz bar- Paginas Tantes
-Local food ( small restaurant- mercado Da Ribeira) - good choice of local Portuguese dishes
-Amazing Mozambique restaurant called Cantona do Aziz (Martim Moniz)
-Check out time out market in Lisbon for 22 restaurants and 8 bars
-Pink streets-for parties till 5-7am
-Parque Eduardo- Marques de Pombal (walk down that street for all the high end brands and small coffee shops -sometimes bands play at these cafes)
-Sabotage club( very 70's 80's nightclub- but to crowded)
-BeST night club would be LUX)
-The park bar(rooftop bar)
(Little commercial )
Day 3 go to Belem (BELEM TOWER)and have the pastal de nata from Belem(5 mins walk from the tower)- most famous restaurant.Belem is a nice place to see(train from cais de sodre
Day 4-Head to the beach at cascais which is gorgeous if you like the sea ( spend the day)
(Sintra is a mesmerising town about an hour by train from Lisbon)- you would need 2 days to see most of it - so i recommend staying a night there - but its quite at night unlike lisbon)
You can take the day pass as well (Check options you like, I did Sintra on two separate days and I really liked the below)
-Quinta Da Regalaria ( take the 413 or the 415 bus outside the sintra station )
-Pena Palace
-Castle of the moors
-Check out Carbo da roca ( an hour from Lisbon )- western most point in europe (surreal place)
-Fatima ( 2 hours away)- is a beautiful church) -by bus Take the metro pass (its worth it)-All the local places in Lisbon are accessible by metro
Cabs are cheap too (Uber)
Overall Portugal has some really spectacular places to visit
Accommodation
- Air bnb would be the best option to get some good accommodation
- Hostelworld for hostels
Cost
- Alcohol -beer at bairro alto is not more than 2-3 euros a mug or pint
- Food within 10 euros
