3 Girls and Bali

Tripoto
18th Jan 2017

To backpack or not through Bali is something you'd have to decide before planning your trip to Bali. Since, an all girls' luxury trip to Bali has been on the cards for a while we chose to keep our knapsacks away this time.

Our planning started in the month of October when I came across this deal from https://luxuryescapes.com/in. The deal- 3nights/4days in Bali (Trans Resort, Seminyak, Bali) for Rs.39,000 for 3pax. This included stay, breakfast, one dinner, a head and neck massage and transportation to and fro the airport.

Day 1

About the hotel- Trans resort is a beautiful property located 25-30 mins away from Ngurah Airport and is located in the heart of a classy and vibrant district of Seminyak. We did have a few hiccups with the hotel but all's well that ends well. In fact the rooms were brilliant.

About transportation- We hired a car and a driver through Ketut Lou(manager) of Bali Buddies. Our driver Kadek was the best ! He drove us around and even recommended good places to eat at, when asked.

The Itinerary-

We followed our itinerary to the T except the Taman Ayun temple and the very famous drunken monkeyz party which we later made up for with club hopping.

Day 1- 18th Jan 2017:

11.20pm Flight from Bangalore to Kuala Lumpur (Air Asia)

Day 2- 19th Jan 2017:

10 am Flight from KL to Bali (Air Asia)

1.30 pm Reached Bali Airport

Since we were exhausted with the travel we decided to stick to the plan and visit only one temple after checking in

4.30pm to 6.00pm Tanah Lot Temple (try catching the sunset here, very beautiful)

6pm t0 10pm Jimbaran Beach (Here you could try a vast array of seafood while sitting on the beach. We ate at the New Moon Cafe. Lovely Chiken Satay, Prawns combo and a few cocktails) . We drove back to the hotel post this.

Day 2

Day 2

9.30am- 10.30am Barong dance. Beautiful dramatic/ musical representation of the ongoing tryst between good vs evil.

11.30am to 1pm Besakih Temple. A temple complex on the slope of Mt Agung with about 86 temples.

1.30pm to 2.30pm Tirta Gangga Water Palace. People tend to skip this, but I'd suggest not. It is beautiful with a lot of photo ops for the avid photographer.

Stop for Lunch- Warung Shanti near Tirta Gangga. You Must...Must... go here. We tried their Mei Goreng, Pasang pe pesan and Cap chay chicken

4.30pm to 6.30pm Blue Lagoon. Heaven ! Have never seen a spot as secluded and beautiful as this beach. (Note to those reading this: if you do go there, please do not over crowd the place or dirty it. It is called heaven for a reason)

Package Dinner at the resort.

Day 3

Day 3

2am to 9am Trek to Mt Batur, an active volcano. Our driver Kadek organized a trek for us , where he drove us early in the morning from the resort to the base campus. Here he introduced us to Made our 17/18 year old guide for the day. Made and his elder sister were fun to trek with. He told us fun stories and ensured that we were safe throughout. Brilliant job Made! We trekked for about 3 hours to the top of Mt Batur, could have been done faster but the terrain was rocky where we had to juggle climbing on fours and our flash lights. Once at the top, Made set up our picnic spot with an amazing view of Lake batur the largest of 4 lakes in Bali, Mts. and Kitamani region. The best part for me was watching the crater steam.

10am to 10.30am Ubud rice terraces and breakfast. Pretty small though. Have heard the ones to the west of Bali (Jatiluwih rice terrace) are way bigger and share a spot on the UNESCO Heritage list.

Ubud being the art and culture capital of Bali, it is filled with quaint shops selling beautiful clothes and souvenirs. The roads are lined with attractive cafes. We stopped for breakfast at the Habitat cafe. Really good food, humongous in size.

11.30pm to 12pm Ubud Palace is what remains of Bali's royal past. Very small complex that can be seen in no time.

12pm to 1.30pm Post the trek our driver Kadek suggested we visit the Putri Spa in Ubud. God Bless Kadek ! It was by far the best massage ever. Our attendants were polite, professional and hygienic. Not very expensive either !!! Must try- The Balinese Barek Massage.

Stopped for Lunch at the Teba Sari Cafe in Ubud. Flanked by rice field and bamboo huts this restaurant is a favourite among expats, and Australian tourists. Here we tried the fried chicken(ayam) and fried duck(bebek). The food was amazing! We completed our meal with a citrus sorbet, one of the best I've ever had.

2.30pm to 3.30pm Coffee tasting at the Teba Sari bali agrotourism. We finally decided to give the famous Luwak coffee a try (very strong and smoky in flavour). Tasting a cup of Luwak coffee was around 50,000IDR, however, the plantation also specializes in other flavours (Spiced chocolate coffee, mangosteen tea, vanilla coffee, etc) that are equally great for free. The plantation also has a store from where one could purchase coffee/tea.

5.30pm to 6.30pm Uluwatu Temple or the sea temple. A favourite among Asian tourist. This temple complex boast of an amazing view of the sea. One can also catch the Kecak or fire dance at the Uluwatu temple.

We stopped at the Seminyak Food centre before returning to the hotel. The food centre is similar to a drive in food court with a variety of options at a great price. Here we ordered some Nasi Goreng as a take away.

We then decide to get a taste of the Balinese night life.

Potato head- Lovely ambiance for a romantic meal.

Mirror Club- Great ambiance...decent drinks

Day 4

1.55PM Flight from Bali to KL (Air Asia)

9 PM Flight from KL to Bangalore(Air Asia)

We were lucky to have experienced rain during the nights, in transit and on our way back home from the airport
