This image showed up in my Google memories and I cannot help being so thankful for the experiences I have had those 2 months in 2019 (May and June).
For starters, I wasn't earning a lot. Something around 20-25k from my erratic freelance projects. However, I booked my tickets (one way) with the 30 odd thousand I had in my account, carried 5k cash with me and set off to an unplanned trip. At that time, I was also still clearing my car EMI so yes, I used to be left with 12-15k a month for my personal expenses which included bills at home.
I remember this decision I had to make - to take up the 2 month contract I was being offered which would pay me 50k a month for working only 3 days a week OR set off on a 2 month journey with earning just about enough. I have no qualms in saying that I chose the latter without a second thought.
I remember working out of my phone when traveling in buses to meet deadlines, carrying a cheap laptop and a jiofi in hopes of finding network wherever I would halt. More often than not, I wouldn't have any network so I would type my articles on the notepad and as soon as I would get a streak of network, I would upload it on Gdrive. And that's how the two months went by - hustling and enjoying every bit of it. I have had my penniless days too, where I would buy eggs and have for all my meals since they were the cheapest and healthiest (I always carry my small egg boiler with me).
And as I was running out of all my money, well - that will be shared in the next post 😇
