Me and my wife planned a trip for Lucknow. It's nearly 6 to 7 hrs of journey by train from Delhi. But anybody can plan a road trip also, roads will b nice initially you have to run on yamuna expressway latter on you have to catch taj expressway up to lucknow. We both catch our train at midnight 12.05 am in 3rd a.c coach we reached Lucknow at around 7.30am in morning. So you will not feel any exertion while travelling with train.
After reaching Lucknow we planned to stay at one of our friend's house. We planned initially for Bara imambara and Chota imambara. Bara Imambara was built by Asaf- ud- daula Nawab of Awash in 1784. It's a very interesting monument I have ever seen. It's also called "bhul bhulaiya". Interseting feature of this monument is it's building construction material which pulses , rice and small bricks. If you will whisper from one corner of the building person can listen from other corner around 100 ft far. Lot of similar gates. If you will not take a guide then definitely you will roam on same track continuously .
Here you will get a well also 7 stories , you can see a water shadow of the person who is entering from the gate.
But please don't plan your trip in summer because you will boil and your foot will definitely boiled because you have to walk inside in bare foot.
Chota Imambara is not much time taking place you can finish it soon . You can see here a royal bathing place , shower of the past, bathing tub with warm water.
You will get an option for shopping at chikan factory located near by Chota imambara.
Awadh is famous for street food so never forget to go 1090 street in gomti nagar. The women power line intersection, popularly called the 1090 chauraha, is also a popular street food location in Lucknow! This is where the nawabs of Lucknow can be found in the evenings, enjoying a variety of flavours while chilling with friends. Specially try here Soya chap, momos and tandoori chai.
Golgappe was yummy 5 types of water including hing, Benny, jeera water etc, never miss this.
Basket chaat at royal palace in hazrat ganj. It's a very well known place but we didn't like it because chaat means something spicy but it was sweet in taste and worth 250 bucks for each plate . So better order one plate if you will like then only order further.
You will never ask for dinner after having lot of street food.
Next day we returned back from Shatabdi exp from Lucknow to Delhi. Best part to book this train is that your taxi will reach nearby your booked coach directly.
