'Welcome to Bhutan everyone!', Pema said. He looked charming, although he was eagerly waiting for all the tourists to board the bus from Paro to Thimphu. It seemed from his face that he wanted to give out all the information about Bhutan at once, as all guides would do. And the journey begins. It was a rainy day. Luckily, we made it to Thimphu valley before it started raining. Thimphu is a small yet big town in the valley, with scenic mountains and river enhancing its beauty. We spent two and a half days in the valley, exploring monasteries and local market. However if you are in Thimphu for a longer period, I recommend to hike around the mountains. 'Everybody ready?.. Deep breath..here we go!', and we are in the "Mochu" river flowing at the speed enough to make the adrenaline rush in your veins. The water was cold and splashing back and forth between big stones and our raft. We were all wet, but the experience was worth it. Located on the shores of river Mochu and Pochu, is a beautiful monastery called Punakha Dzong. So do not forget to add Punakha in your itinerary, if you are seeking for an adventure and peace in Bhutan. Now it was time for the big hiking adventure. Yes, you got it right. Besides being the unofficial symbol of Bhutan, climbing the Tiger's Nest Monastery is an adventure in itself. It takes about four hours to climb with one or two short breaks in between, but once you are up there, you just can not think of anything except nature! No matter how hard I try, that experience was beyond the scope of description. 'Bhutan: Gross National Happiness'. It does sound like a catchy tagline for a country, but they really mean it!

With beautiful scenic views and riverside, Thimphu valley is worth visiting.
If you are looking for a water adventure like river rafting in Bhutan, this is where you wanna be!
With the main attraction of Tiger's nest monastery, Paro is a must visit city in Bhutan
