We usually have a lot of trips in a year in any of the seasons. But this is a trip of September 2021 when another friend had to go out of the valley for studies and work. So we planned a trip to the lakes around the Margan Top. Margan Top also known as Margan Pass is a mountain pass, connecting Warwan Valley in Kishtwar District with the main Kashmir Valley. It is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.696m (12125ft) above the sea level, located in Anantnag Kashmir. Its has because a tourist destination because of being one of the most beautiful mountain tops in the valley and also due to being surrounded by a lot of lakes.
Because of being almost 120 km from the main city Srinagar it almost took us 4 hours to reach to the Margan Top. We parked our car there and made had some tea, took our bagpacks with us and started our trek to Choharnag lakes which is a cluster of 4 lakes almost 3km from the main road of the Margan Top where we parked our car. On reaching the lake 1 all of our fatigue went away when we saw the view and then we went to the lake 2 which wasn't visible due to the lake fog and it felt like we were walking in the clouds and it really was so cold and we were hungry so we made some noodles for us to eat (because maggie hits different in mountains) till the fog was cleared and then went singing altogether towards the lake 3 which is the most beautiful among the all of the four lakes where one of our friends jumped into the lake with joy to swim in that cold water. And after clicking a bunch of pictures and having some snacks we decended back towards the lake 1 because to reach the lake 4 we had to take the trails from the lake 1, where we had to walk over the rocks of the valley, even saw some himalayan marmots and heard their whistles there and finally reached the lake 4 the only lake with beautiful different types coloured flowers, we spent some time there to click a group picture and then decended back down towards our car and while heading back at the very top we couldn't see the sunset but experienced a beautiful alpenglow on the mountains we were facing towards to get down. And then we reached to the car and the sun was set and the Margan Top was added with an extra charm due to the moon light all over it. And then camped there for a night, cooked food, ate and had a great sleep.
