Did you ever have to cancel (or reschedule) your travel plans because the friend who was supposed to accompany you turned into an escapist with an unbeatable excuse to skip out on you? If yes, then you are not alone—most of us have been through such put-offs. In fact, there are many people around us who never fall short of excuses, whenever they’re asked to come along on a trip.
And while you might be left wondering how in the world they manage to conjure up an excuse to which you have no answer, the secret may well lie in their respective zodiac signs. You may or may not believe in zodiac, but you’ll relate with the following list of excuses people come up with to skip travelling!
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
"I can't afford it right now, dude"
Known for their direct approach, people of this zodiac would, more often than not, tell you that they simply don't want to travel. This is the most common excuse you can expect from Aries folks!
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
"I can't. I have to get my kitchen fixed. I don't think I can make it. Next weekend maybe?"
Taurus individuals, though usually one of the most reliable and dependable of friends, love the comfort of their home and enjoy everyday routine. Call it their stubbornness or strong will, they don't really like the idea of being pushed for impromptu plans. Guess what? There’s a way out of this quandary. You can try informing them about your travel plans beforehand if you want them to accompany you.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
"I can't say yes right now. I'll decide and let you know."
Geminis are adaptable and easygoing folks who love trying new things and experiences. They fit in, in almost any situation and with almost everyone, but when it comes to making a decision, their recessive trait of anxiety comes into play and can completely change their perspective on anything. Which means, you may end up getting a maybe-or-maybe-not kind of response from them. Well, if you’ve got a Gemini friend, you’d better have a well-planned itinerary.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
"I can't leave my dog behind. She isn't as friendly with my mum."
We all have that one caring friend who's always ready to hear out our break-up rants, accompany us for shopping when everyone else says no and is very sensitive but is often perceived by others as moody and unpredictable. While they may not really be moody, Cancerians are generally over-intuitive and emotional, which in turn, triggers their parental instinct. So the next time your Cancer friend cites the above-mentioned reason, consider it natural.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
"I want to come along, but I don't really get along well with that friend of yours."
Belonging to the fire element of the zodiac, Leos are quite like lions; they are quite protective and loving towards those they consider close. They are territorial towards those who they are passionate about. However, you must remember that a Leo can be inflexible and domineering, which means anyone outside of the 'kingdom' isn't automatically welcome.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
"What? This weekend? Without any itinerary or bookings? I am not sure."
Virgos are some of the most loyal, cheerful and charming people you will ever come across. However, they are equally observant and are self-professed perfectionists. They tend to over-analyze situations involving them and other people in their lives. This can lead to them getting easily frustrated with something that's not 'perfect' according to them. So if you have a Virgo friend who you want to take along for a trip this weekend, you’d better be as well-prepared as you’d before an office presentation.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
"I want to go, but I don't think it's a great time to visit this place right now given the crowd and weather. Next month?”
Well, Librans are the last people who will reveal that they are mad at you, even if you are a total stranger who's done something which may have offended them. Yet, they have a few traits of Virgos, the most prominent of which is getting things done to perfection. And while they won't say it to your face, the underlying diplomat in Librans will often find a way or two to correct you when you mispronounce something or ask you to be more polite towards that waiter who accidentally spilled a few drops of coffee on your shoe at a restaurant. However, be careful, they cannot stand messy and chaotic situations. Be ready for a response like the above when you ask them to join the party.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
"Uhh, I have a prior commitment. Sorry, I forgot to tell you".
Can you think of one name among your friends who never backs down, is very emotional, and more loyal than you expect? That's a Scorpio for you. However, there's a downside too. They barely reveal actual reasons behind their actions, perhaps because they are very protective about their feelings. Don't get them wrong the next time they opt out of a trip without giving you a hint.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
"I know I said yes, but what do I do? I have a school friend coming over this weekend!"
Think of Sagitarrians as synonymous with traits like friendly, exuberant, sincere, honest, and large-hearted. They always try to help others and have the ability to see the bigger picture. However, like other zodiac signs, Sagitarrians also possess a few negative traits and the most noticeable of them are inconsistency and restlessness. This can drive them to jump from one interest to another, without thinking about their prior commitments.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
"I am afraid I'll go broke after this. Can't we reschedule?"
Capricorns are not the kind who make excuses. They are people with strong determination, perseverance and big ambitions who love responsible folks. But Capricorns are also over-realistic and down-to-earth to the extent that it can drive them towards pessimism. They might be doing great in life and yet they find it hard to accept that everything is and will be fine. No wonder you have to be at your responsible and optimistic best to not let the pessimism in your Capricorn friend take over.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
"I'd rather visit some offbeat place. This one's too mainstream"
They love their world of liberty and fairness where everything is idealistic. Aquarians are free-spirited, creative and highly intellectual. However, Aquarians are also independent, detached and original. You could be telling them about your recent heartbreak and getting only a few 'hmmms' and 'yeahs' in response. So don’t be offended, they don't mean to be indifferent to you, they're just wired like that. Their reasons for not accompanying you on a trip might just be because Aquarians aren't the ones that readily agree to 'go with the flow'.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
"I just don't feel like going. Some other day, maybe!"
Pisces has the water element of zodiac which concerns sheer feelings and emotions. They are empathetic, friendly and art-loving people who are full of great imagination and sentiments. And though they are likeable and friendly, their feelings, which experience constant ebb and flow, can make them moody and lazy people who get easily swayed by opinions and influences. That said, if you're cogent enough, you may as well be able to use this trait of your Pisces friend to your advantage!
But hey! This doesn't mean that this list of excuses holds universally true for all of us. There are some who would go to lengths to travel places and gather experiences. After all, zodiac signs are only mystical ideas derived from the cosmos which we humans have been using as a guide to get a general idea of each individual's personality.
