The weekend comes with a bug... which keeps on biting if I don't go for a trek! So, I decided to go to Makalidurga... 2nd time. It's very near (70 km from my home) and hence convenient. Standing at a height of 4500 ft, it's a short and easy trek. As always, we started off early in the morning, having breakfast en route and then starting off for the trek. Near the start point is a hotel and we parked our vehicles there. The total trek length is ~8km i.e 4 on each side. The trail starts on the other side of the railway track near a temple. There was no entry fee when we went last year, however, forest officials have started charging ₹450/person now. Nevertheless, it's an easy trek for novices and one can easily complete the trek in 5-6 hours time. The route is marked throughout so one doesn't need to take a guide. This place is quite well known and one would find some co-trekkers throughout the route.
