Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island nation, is known for its beaches, lagoons and reefs. And the beauty just doubles when its your first international trip, moreover a honeymoon trip.We had a direct flight from New Delhi which took about 7 hrs to reach the volcanic island. We had a warm welcome from our travel agent who made us travel along the sea side to our hotel - "Tropical Attitude"- week's stay. We could see either the Indian Ocean or the sugarcane fields all over the vicinity.First day was a relaxing day when we enjoyed full day at the beach. The food served was tempting - all sea foods.

Our tour was divided into - north tour, south tour and Ile aux cerfs Island. There is lot of travelling and destinations are very far away.

The north tour had the following attractions:

Mauritius National Botanical garden

Port Louis – The Capital of Mauritius

Fort Adelaide Port Louis

Port Louis’ waterfront area

The south tour had the following attractions:

Trou Aux Cerfs, also called Murr’s Volcano

The Grand Bassin – a natural lake in the crater

Chamarel, a beautiful village also referred to as the Coloured Earth

Rochester Waterfalls

Mangal Mahadev – Shiva Statue

The best day was : Ile aux cerfs Island

We reached there through a speed boat. We were left there for full day. The white sand beach and activities made our day.The place offers great water activities including under water sea walk, parasailing, tube ride and ride to the waterfall situated close by to the water activity site. Each activity was breathtaking. Although I got scared initially but it was fun. These are few must-do things in Mauritius. The under sea walk was a great experience along with the fishes. The paragliding was great to see blue ocean from a height.

South African wine is very famous and you must taste it. I also had fresh Rum and Phoenix(beer). You have plenty of options for food. Different types of fishes, octopus, squid, pork dishes , varieties of fruits and many more.

The evenings were mostly drizzling and it was just icing on the cake. The cool breeze , perfect romantic weather, and your soulmate - perfect evening to enjoy.

Mauritius ... "t'aime"....
