Dhankar Lake, Dhankar Monastery, Spiti
My all time fav.❤️
For an hour, we did not observe a single soul there while trekking to Dhankar Lake from the Monastery.
I asked an old man there "Dhankar lake kitni dur hai yaha se?" He said with a smile "hamein to adha ghanta lagta hai apko ek ya dedh lagega"
We were happy with his response. We had only 2 water bottles with us and a banana 😆
It was around 1:30PM, We were 5, we started the trek with the HIGH JOSH. Kuch hi der baad 2 ka josh nikal gaya aur half way se wapis chale gaye 😂 Ab hum 3 baki the bina kisi side support ke one and a half hour trek with just 1 bottle of water. Shoes slip ho rahe the aur chalna mushkil hota ja raha tha. We were breathing heavily. Oxygen ki kami mehsoos hone lagi thi. Height ke sath sath josh bhi kam ho raha tha. Mujhe lag raha tha mujhse ye trek nahi hoga but itna google kia mann banaya tha k lake dekhni hai to bas dekhni hai. Wo never give up wala attitude us din kaam aya.
Mere paas us din ek hi line thi jisne Neeraj ko bahut irritate kia "The best view comes after the hardest climb" And us din mujhe iska matlab samajh aya jab hum lake ke kareeb pahunch chuke the. Around 14000ft height and the mesmerizing view of barren mountains and the river. It was beyond amazing.
Atlast we saw a couple on our way who was coming back from the lake. I asked him "thoda pani milega?" He gave us half litre water. Ab hamein yakeen tha k itne se hum lake tak pahunch jayenge. Trekking ke time water bottles apne sath na rakhne ki bewkoofi hamein us din pata lagi. Finally we reached to Dhankar lake. We were smiling, jumping and celebrating.
Barren mountains, clear blue skies, chilly winds everything was just unbelievable. It felt like we were on a different planet. I made a video of Dhankar Lake and it is uploaded on Youtube. I am sharing some pictures of our journey to the lake.
Spiti is ❤️
