I had my first trek to Triund top this Christmas. It was unplanned and I was not even knowing the timings for it. I with my friend started going for the trek at 11:00am. We thought we will return till evening from there, was not having any idea that it takes one full day so going at this time means we were late for returning. First we had to go to the Gallu temple from there the main trek starts. Till Gallu temple also we walked and experienced the walk in the woods of deodar trees.
As we continued, we reached one to Tibetan flag temple which was full off colourful flags. It felt so peaceful staying there for sometime.
As we trekked more towards Gallu temple we had one more companion with us, a dog. He came with us till Gallu temple.
After reaching Gallu temple we saw many trekkers who were mainly coming for the trekking. The checkpoint for the trek was after Gallu temple. After reaching there we get to know that we have to stay there on the top in tents and do camping coz the time for those who want to return that day itself was 11:00am and the people who have to stay their timing is 2:00pm. We reached there at 1:00pm so we had no other option left. We had nothing of our requirements.
In the beginning we thought we will reach at least in 3 hours at the top. But it took us 4 hours to reach. Our speed was slow. It was a moderate kind of trek for beginners and easy for the ones who experienced before.
All the items which were provided by small shops on the way and on the top were carried by donkeys.
On the way we had spectacular views of mountains all around.
After reaching the top, the first view was of snow cladded mountains at the back which were shining golden colour because of the setting sun and the base ground of camping with different coloured tents.
Everyone was having that spectacular view of that beautiful sunset. We experienced one of the most beautiful sunset ever. The horizon was visible so clear. Down there was the view of full kangra valley. On top was one temple too which was adding the beauty of the place.
After the sunset the camping ground slowly slowly got darkness and cold increased. Then hot rajma chawal served gave the warmth to the stomach.
The sky was clear, stars were shining in the sky. One of the best views I had of that much clear sky. One can see many constellations. Then moon came up in the sky and the darkness on the camping ground turned into very beautiful dim white moonlight. We could see all around in that beautiful moonlight. We had bonfire to give us the warmness in that cold night. The temperature must be around -3° to -8°C.
The next morning waking up before sunrise between the mountains is something different anyone can experience. Cold Morning with cold winds and feeling fresh in that surrounding. Seeing the sunrise from dawn till the time when it is fully in sky is like one of the only best sunrise experiences I have.
