Mussoorie slipped out of my bucket list ever since it became one of the most popular getaways from Delhi. But, my recent stop in the city while returning from Gangotri introduced a boutique lodge that revived Mussoorie's lost magic. If you’re searching for a stay with long walks, solitude and a rich birdlife with tastefully done rooms, this is for you.
Seegreen Lodges are part of the famous Park Estate in Mussoorie. Sir George Everest, who had Mt Everest named after him, first established his house here in 1832. The property offers rooms with a balcony and breathtaking views of the hills as well as the surrounding virgin forests. Guests can opt for non-smoking rooms as well. The entire estate is a protected area that prohibits littering and use of plastic bottles.
This lodge offers a refreshing change from the bustling city-life. Its proximity to tourist spots makes it the ideal choice for anyone who likes to explore without compromising on their love for nature. It caters to the tastes of all sorts of travellers including families, couples and solo travellers. If you are a nature lover, a birder, a trekker, an artist or a tourist who likes to read and relax, this one should be on your list..
Guests can either choose a Deluxe Room or a log hut.
The caretaker, Somendar is welcoming and responsive, yet non-intrusive. Gudvir Singh, the cook, is equally accommodating and flexible with the use of ingredients. Cooking services cost extra, though breakfast is included in the room tariff.
Guests can access the common cafeteria, verandah and deck. The deck is accessible only for house guests and not for cafeteria guests. The cafeteria library has a good collection of books for guests interested in exploring India. It also has toys and board games to make the most of your meal-time!.
The stay is only 6 km away from the Mall road. This puts it away from the bustling city, yet never makes one feel secluded. A casual stroll leads to the Mall Road in less than 40 minutes. The nearest airport is Dehradun Airport, located 59 km away.
The homestay offers an à la carte or Asian breakfast. The cafe's extensive menu includes Indian, Chinese, Italian and other popular food choices. Here’s the full menu!
