About Tadoba Tiger Reserve:
Often referred to as "The Jewel of Vidharba", the Tadoba National Park lies in the district of Chandrapur in the north-eastern part of Maharashtra.
Located in the heart of a reserved forest, it is an infinite treasure trove of innumerable species of trees and plants - and wildlife that includes tigers, panthers, sloth bears, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, bison, barking deer, nil gai, sambar, and cheatal.
In fact, the Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Santuary together form the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. The park derives its name from "Taru" the local deity, whereas the Andhari river that meanders through the forest gives the sanctuary its name.
Flora: Teak, Ain, Bija, Dhaoda, Bamboo, Haldu, Arjun, Tendu, Salai, Jamun, Mahua.
Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Sloth bear, Wild dog, Jackal, Sambar, Indian Bison, Barking Deer, Blue Bull, Spotted Deer, Chausingha, Ratel, Flying Squirrel, Wild Boar, Langur.
How We Started Our Trip:
We have booked our safari trip online from Maharastra Tourism website http://mahaecotourism.gov.in/Site/Common/OnlineBooking1.aspx. There are six gates to enter Tadoba Tiger Reserve Khutvanda, Kolara, Mohurli, Navegaon, Pangdi, Zari (Kolsa). We booked morning slot from khutvanda gate and safari timings : 6:00 Am to 11:00 AM. You can even book evening slots depends upon your time availability.
Total Cost for booking a slot Rs: 750 for 6 Members if you are booking for jeep or car.
Booked Accommodation in FDCM Eco Cottages
✔ We have a booked accommodation in Eco Friendly Tents in Tadoba Kutwanda .
✔ Activities : Local Jungle Trek Nearby in Evening
✔ Location wise , the accommodation is an advantage. The backyard overlooks into a open meadow where you can watch wildlife moving around . You would frequently hear chital alarm calls there. Also , it's placed at a walking distance from one of the buffer entrance.
✔ The food is outsourced to local vendor. You have a small menu list which is similar to MTDC restaurant nearby, service is very very very late. anything you order their 1st reaction is it will take 2 hours. 2 hours for maggi is stupidity.MTDC is close from there and you can try food there, they also have the same rules 2 hours for order.
Total Cost For Accommodation & For Gypsy:
You will need two tents Rs 1000 per day per night + extra guest in the tent Rs 500.
As you booked safari from Khutwanda gate, gypsy will cost you Rs 2700 per safari excludes camera lenses above 250mm and guide.
DAY 1
Nagpur To Tadoba:
Start : From Nagpur around 09:00 AM
Reaches Tadoba around : 12: 00 PM ( Estimated time Max 3 hours; Around 150 kms.
Trains : AP Express @ 9:50 & Reaches Chandrapur @ 12:30 PM + Avg late : 2 1/2 Hours
Andaman Express @ 10:45 & Reaches Chandrapur @ 1: 30 PM + Avg late : 2 H
Bus : There are hourly non-AC buses to Chandrapur which honestly are more comfortable These cannot be booked: they leave the busstand in Nagpur when they get full.
Expert Advice : If Tadoba is your eventual destination, A couple of buses operate Nagpur to Warora. There is a daily ST bus which operates from Warora to Chandrapur THROUGH the Tadoba forest: i used to take this option since it got me directly to the forest office. If heading to Mohurli howerver, then via Chandrapur may be better. If you reach Chandrapur, you have local travel facility to Tadoba. Reaches to Chandrapur or Tadoba around 12:00 PM.
You will be directed to FDCM ECO Cottages after reaching check your tents and get freshen up and enjoy the beautiful view from your camp. Go early to bed.
DAY 2
Early Morning wake up, Get ready for TIGER SAFARI from Tents we will be picked up by
driver in the morning 6:00 AM . Vehicle open top GYPSY .
Park Name: Tadoba – Andhari Tiger Reserve
Entry Gate Name : Khutvanda
You will have a guide while doing safari and 100% you will watch tigers coming near your jeep.
Note: Should not get up from Jeep.
➢ After Safari driver drops near accommodation and check out the hotel.
➢ Take a local Bus to Chandrapur Station.
Note:
Tadoba forest is closed for Safari on every Tuesday.
Getting there:
The nearest airport is Nagpur (140 km via Umrer, Bhisi and Chimur).
The nearest railway station is Chandrapur (on the Delhi-Madras main line) 45 kms away.
Nearest main bus stand is Chandrapur and Chimur (32 km).
Accommodation:
MTDC provides self-contained rooms with adjoining restaurant at Tadoba.
