I personally feel we are instinctively divided into two categories - Travelers and Tourists. I differentiate them in this way: A Traveler travels to enjoy the journey, a Tourist does so to enjoy the destination.
Thus one who is a traveler may find solo traveling to be fun. Here's what makes solo traveling awesomely awesome for me:
1. Not planning the transportation:
While solo travelling I do not prefer to plan my transportation prior. I rather get on the road, take lifts from bypassing vehicles, travel on bus tops, walk or at the most take public transport. While it makes the journey more exciting it also removes the inhibitions from your mind of getting stuck in the journey.
Travelling on bus top on my way to Tawang.
2. Getting introduced to some of the best people I will ever meet otherwise:
This is the best part of travelling alone. It makes you so easily approachable to people that striking a conversation becomes effortless. It opens up your mind so much so that you can spend a whole day talking to any random stranger. And some times a few of them stay back in your life forever :)
3. Taking awesome selfies :) :p
Yes indeed. Especially for guys like me who can't stand in front of the camera to get clicked by someone else. Here you take your time, decide the set up, put the camera on the tripod, set the timer and cheeeeeeseee!!!
4. Taking stops wherever I want:
When you are travelling alone you decide everything, from planning the itinerary to completely screwing it up :p So any place that catches my eyes during my journey becomes the next halt for me (well ideally!). We tend to overlook to beautiful things on our journey just because we have to reach our destination. I make sure I stop by and get the full out of everything i pass by.

5. Finding heart throbs :D
Beauty should always be worshiped. So do I :p. Thus coming across beauties who make you feel butterflies in your stomach, striking a conversation with them and then being friends is only possible when you are travelling solo. But make sure that you don't behave like a creep or disrespect them.
Dime...she told me more stories about Tawang than I would have found from the whole internet
This girl,Dikcha, was so sweet that she even posed for a whole series of photographs. I was staying at her home-stay on my way to Sandakphu.
But there are lot more than all the above points I mentioned here. Traveling solo is a good opportunity to reflect on our selves. It makes us realize how simple life can be, how lucky we are to get all the comfort that we have, how essential it is to be humble, how important it is to conserve our nature and lot more. The world is much better than we think it is. Its just that we do not take out our time to have a look at it properly.
