AGRA : TAJ MAHAL

Tripoto
18th Apr 2019

The most exciting day of the trip was riding through Yamuna Expressway. After paying the toll charges of Rs 205/- for bike, I started riding towards Agra 225 kms road which took me just 3 hrs to complete including 1 lunch break. One of the best road ever in India. After hotel check-in, I headed straight to one of the seven wonders of the world – Taj Mahal. Since 18 April was a World Heritage Day – the entry was free. Otherwise the charges are: Rs 400 for Indians and Rs 1100 for Foreign Nationals. Since this was my very first time to visit Taj Mahal – I was quite excited to view the beauty.

The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal attracts 7–8 million visitors a year. After spending approx. 3-4 hrs, my heart was filled with joy and happiness after exploring Taj Mahal. It was time to return to hotel and rest and the most challenging ride to begin the next day. Keep watching this space for the next day travel story.
