Bhimtal - An Adventure-Filled Trip!

Tripoto

We planned a trip to Bhimtal with the sole intention of spending a relaxed weekend, but with kids around, this turned out to be a miscalculation. However, with all that we did there, we couldn’t have asked for more fun and adventures. Yes, Bhimtal offers you a range of adventure activities for a wondrous experience.

Day 1

The beautiful Bhimtal Lake

We started at 7 am from Noida and reached Bhimtal by 1 pm in the afternoon (we took a 45-minutes break for breakfast). After checking in to Aamod Resort, we left for Sattal which was a barely a 15-minutes’ drive from the resort.

Nestled amid lush greenery, Sattal offers a visual treat. The shades of green of the forests and the water are enough to soothe the soul. And then, when you add a dose of adventure, you experience nothing but the best. The moment we saw colourful kayaks lined up on the shore, we knew we had to do kayaking. The kids had an adventure of their own kind as they were accompanied by a guide. As we went along the waters, we soaked up the views and enjoyed every bit of our one hour on the boat.

Thereafter, the kids wanted to do zip-lining and they thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

While returning, we had rajma chawal, curry chawal, maggi and tea from one of the stalls near the lake. We came back to the resort where the children enjoyed activities like badminton, hoopla and swings.

The day came to end after a scrumptious dinner at the Machan restaurant. The place offers an elaborate menu and the food here was indeed delicious.

Day 2

We had decided to dedicate this day to paragliding. But then when it rained heavily in the morning, we had little hope that we’d be able to fulfil our wish. The rain god, however, had better plans for us and the sky was clear by 11. We had already had a great breakfast at the resort and were ready for a happening day. We directly drove to the point from where the paragliders take off. This was near Naukuchitaal – another beautiful lake of the hills. The charges were Rs 1200 per head and we took four tickets. The kids were super-excited but a little scared too. Thankfully, they did not back out. Actually, the fear of paragliding is very short lived. The moment you leave the ground and touch the sky, the feelings that fill you are of awe, admiration, thrill and joy. I was happy that kids as young as 7 and 9 had experienced this adventure.

We had our lunch at a small, cosy restaurant, just opposite the Bhimtal Lake and left for our resort for some rest. We had planned for boating and fishing in the Lake for the evening. In the two-hour boat ride, we did catch a very small fish. Though, it was difficult to keep the kids quiet and seated on the boat for this long (the boatman tried to keep them engaged with his stories of leopards, tigers, jungles and adventures), the experience left us totally relaxed. We enjoyed the views and the serenity of the waters.

We had a lunch at a Chinese outlet in the Bhimtal market and reached our hotel by 10 for the much-needed sleep.

Day 3

We woke up early in the morning and enjoyed some activities like swimming and net climbing at the resort.

Later, we had our breakfast and left for Nainital after checking out. It took us just an hour to reach the city of lakes. Due to shortage of time, however, we only visited the Eco Cave gardens which offered us another sort of adventure that left us totally tired. Soon, we started for Delhi though we stopped by the Corbett Waterfall. We reached our home by 10 and this is how our trip to Bhimtal came to an end with still lots left to be done in the next one.
