Well, now I'm going to tell about my visit to the 9th century beauty SUN TEMPLE situated in katarmal village, kumaon division, Almora. It is built by katarmalla, a katyuri king in 9th century CE. Sun temple (Sun mandir) is also called as Badaditya (Badaditya) temple, located at a distance of 19km from Almora town and 3.5 km from river kosi. The main deity is Lord Surya –  called Vraddha Aditya (Old Sun God). Other dieties are shiva, Parvathi, Lakshmi Narayana etc.,. It is a great historical place with unique stone carvings and location. There are 44 small temples surrounding the main shrine but none of them had any idols inside them. The style of architecture is Nagara style. Various temple pieces  can be found scattered in the courtyard.  The temple has been declared a monument of National and historical importance protected and preserved by Archeological  survey of India (ASI).The spectacular view of the endless valley from temple and cool breeze blows your mind.
🤩
Though its a rare and renowned historical place. There is no food and toilet facility. As a nation, we really should care for such rich heritage and culture. I must admit the sun temple of katarmal is a true masterpiece of art and structure.

Here are few snaps captured through my lens.
