As per the latest reports, Satpal Maharaj, the state's tourism minister, stated at a meeting with senior department officials that a master plan for the hill town is being developed. This will make Auli an ideal destination for all seasons and not just winters.
The snowy peaks of Auli are famous among travelers for skiing and snowboarding. With the recent developments, adventure junkies can expect a lot of winter sports activities to be introduced. The interesting part is that there will be activities like rock climbing, trekking for the other half of the year too.
The minister also said that training slopes for children will be built, as well as other expanded facilities for all age groups. The master plan would also include major infrastructure development projects to lure more tourists to the location. With new developments, we can expect a rise in international tourists to this small town in Uttarakhand.
Auli has hosted national and international skiing championships in the past. People look forward to the winter sports events in Auli and with the new plan, we can only expect the craze to go higher. Other than adventure activities, Auli is known for Asia’s longest Gondola or cable ride from Joshimath-Auli, which gives a picturesque aerial view of the Himalayan ranges.
