Located at the absolute tip of the state, Bidar is a great way to explore the rich textural culture of Karnataka. This Bidar Fort was built back in 1426 by the first Bahmani ruler, Sultan Ahmad Shah Wali. And it's truly is beautiful. The pavilion, the palaces, the battlements, the fountain, the garden, all of it, it has the perfect making of an Arabian Night fantasy.

The City of Bidar is protected by glacis or artificial slope, to keep assailants under fire, as well as moat and impressive stone fortifications with merlons reinforced with circular and pentagonal bastions. The loopholes battlements of the ramparts testify to the use of muskets and firearms, while on the bastions cannons can be still seen. A beautiful inscription engraved on grey basalt mentioned the date of construction of the Bidar Fort as 1503, during the Mahmud Shah's (1482-1518)
