Took a flight to Cochin and drove down to Pattikad near Trichur, into Otees orchards and Nuseries.
The stay was very nominal, clean rooms, clean toilets, in a 120 year old house, amidst the forests of pattikad. The friendly and warm hosts made the journey even more nicer.
Having a cup of coffee sitting in the front porch of the house, I was amazed to see a barrage of birds of all kinds, helping themselves with food from the 1000's of trees around the house. I took my camera and wandered into the jungle, nature walk and came back after 8 hours. The beauty and the sounds of these birds and streams, took me by surprise and I forgot I needed to eat. The zillion Jackfruits, Nutmeg trees, mangoes, sappottas, pepper corns, velvet apple and zillion berries from the jungle welcome the himalayan birds during the freezing winters of the Himalayas.
Being an avid bird watcher, I could not get myself to do anything else but watch the birds the all the three days.
Great Kerala food cooked by our host, took us to a great slumber in the afternoons.
The whole atmosphere of the place, is heaven for people looking for nature and small town life.
On some nights a great barbeque with beer summed up our day.
